what about DC schools?Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:IAC players can not turn 19 prior to Sept 1 and players are allowed 4 years of participation starting in 9th grade.
Part of your post is true, allow for me to correct it.
The IAC does not permit kids who have turned 19 prior to September 1st to participate in HS athletics.... Bullis has a current junior who is 19 and is taking a gap year after this school year before he heads off to an Ivy League School.
Regarding 4 years of participation, this is where things get very tricky in the IAC. The Maryland members of the IAC, Bullis, Prep, and Landon follow the Maryland code of HS Athletic standards that states players are only allowed 4 years of participation (it doesn't matter if you spend 2 seasons on JV and 2 on varsity)
The VA members in the IAC, Saint Stephens and Episcopal, don't have to adhere to these rules. Hence if a kid transfers to EHS or Saint Stephens, and has already played 3 years of HS ball (whether it be a season on JV and 2 seasons on varsity), they can re-classify and not be forced to sit out a season, thus play 5 years of HS athletics. EHS has been doing this for years in several sports and Saint Stephens has been doing it for hoops and lacrosse most recently.

The Bullis player is not currently 19 and will not turn 19 until after Sep 2022. The IAC only allows 4 years of competition in the IAC.

Is the kid on class, who is maybe a little small, developing skills and toughness the reclass kids never will, and then is a stronger overall player when they all catch up on size in high school or college? Or is that silly and naive?
You should look at the birthdays of the DC Dogs/Prep commits. At least a couple of 03s and a whole lot of 04. Does the IAC have same rule as MIAA re 8 semesters to play once you enter HS? Episcopal, Prep, and Landon have 23s in their 4th year of HS. Given the size of lax “scholarships,” that’s a crappy ROI.

They know that. The current team reminds each other everyday how much they sucked last year and how embarrassing it was. All they want right now is to earn back their respect and they know the only way to do that is by winning. The returners from last season have been lifting and running full time since August 27. Everyone single one of the returns knows that they don’t have the respect or reputation as a top “dawg" in the dmv anymore. They were humbled and embarrassed. They know Casey is gone and that almost everyone is counting them. I may be a washed up lax bro in my second year of college, but I know one thing for sure, they are going to be dangerous this upcoming season. All of the embarrassment that came with last season has been building up. All they want is to starting playing and get that chance to earn their respect back. I’m not saying they will beat sjc, prep, or even Landon ,but if there is one thing for sure, it is that they will give every game every ounce of energy they have left in their body until the clock hits zero.
Also a note to all the people on this page. 99% of the people on this page really have know clue what their talking about when it comes to dmv hs lacrosse. It doesn’t matter if they are the parent of kid on one of the teams. This is the players game. I guarantee if any dmv hs lacrosse player found this page they would simply just laugh at it. At the end of the day this is a PLAYERS game not a parents game. This game is in the hands of these kids and not one parent on this form truly knows everything. Kids play this game because they love it and all of this nonsense of parents arguing about which team is better and who is worse on this page is truly a joke. This season will be determined by the players not my a bunch of parents on an Anonymous form. Simply as that.
