EDP should never have put them in premier I division. The other Barca 2005 yellow team is in Premier IV and is appropriately placed. Won 3 games and most were competitive.

EDP has promotion/relegation so this team will be moved to a division that is more appropriate for them. I agree that this was a tough division for their first competitive season. To provide some context, No. 1 ranked team in Virginia finished 4th in the same division.

We had a child who played on a big club C team and, no, they were not "nickled and dimed" up to $3k. Other than a $100 fee for tournament costs, there were no other costs charged beyond the club fee. And Loudoun/Arlington are probably the most expensive examples, other clubs are less expensive at this playing level.

Doesn’t NCSL have a pro/rel system? Since this is a thread on Barca, to get this back on topic, why don’t their teams compete there instead of rec tournaments? Seems to be the appropriate place, especially if part of the argument is to keep down costs.

I find it interesting how often this thread brings up the expense of Barca or soccer in general. Really? In this area? Expensive is a relative, subjective concept. Is $3k a year a lot of money? Sure. So is paying more than that each month for a mortgage. It’s only too expensive if you can’t afford it. $3000 for a structured, professionally run activity 4 days a week 10 months a year for my kid at one of the best fields in the area? Sounds like a pretty good value to me. There are parents paying that amount for piano lessons, after school gymnastics, family vacations. There are kids with $1000 iPhones. Who is the judge of what is too expensive and where a family can choose to allocate their money?

Why do you care? Obviously your kid isn’t there so the price doesn’t affect you. Please share with the class where your kid plays so we can start a forum thread discussing its merits.
