DH is a chef. Maura got her name because you and DH used to watch ER after he got home from work and you liked that actress who played the nurse. Your brother got a girl knocked up in college and you've always felt weird that he's a better uncle to your kids than a father to his own. You reach out to your niece's mother to maintain a relationship for the cousins, and once your brother got very angry at you when he arrived at Easter to see his daughter and ex-girlfriend at the table. Maura seems to have her own life, and never needs your help or advice. DH is always telling you to let her be, but you are thrown by what you interpret as her being cold. Luke is your easy child except for the fact that he wants to wear shorts every day unless he actually sees snow on the ground. When Amelia was a toddler you noticed that even though she wasn't any fatter than any of the other toddlers in her playgroup, she has a disproportionately large ass compared to the rest of her body, and you even had a friend come over and look at her backside naked to confirm it. She did confirm, and when you said, "Oh well, she takes after her mama" your friend didn't disagree and you've liked her a tiny bit less ever since.

Your mother is not impressed with your DH, thinking anyone who wears a uniform is in a low job. She also doesn't understand why the pants have to be so baggy. Lastly, she watches Gordon Ramsey and is FOREVER bringing him up to DH, and asking his opinion on things Gordon has said, even though DH has told her a million times he's never seen any of his shows.

The mom is artsy and thinks she is very hip. she had her children in her 20's. She didn't finish college. The Dad is also a hipster who didn't finish college and now has an office job - prob. in IT. The rent an apt and love city living.

You always wanted to be a mother and were thrilled when you and your DH, who is 15 years old than you, learned you were pregnant. You live in the Del Ray area in a renovated bungalow and grow your own vegetables work. You work as a botanist at the Botanic Garden and your husband is a recently retired air traffic controller. Your DH is the oldest dad at circle times and the pool with a toddler, but little red haired Theodore is daddy's special guy. Now that you are pregnant with DC #2, you guys are thinking that a little extra help around the house might be nice.

You never thought you'd end up with four kids. Four kids? And two sets of twins no less. After all, you were president of your sorority chapter, studied in Austria for a semester, and lived the single life in Chicago as a low level advertising rep for a few years. Then you met James, a former Mormon and defense analyst and everything changed. You guys moved to Fairfax Co so that he could be closer to his job at DOD. You guys struggled to conceive DC #1, so you turned to IVF. Voila, you were blessed with the first set of twins, John and Virginia. Then six years later, a second IVF helped you conceive Meredith and Tanner. Life is good as the SAHM to a large brood. And you had quite a tale to tell at the sorority reunion.

You went to Hampshire and DH went to MIT. Ivy will likely be an only child - you were 38 when you had her and you and DH both have pretty intensive careers. You wear a lot of black and purple and never where heels. You don't quite know what to make of being parents - you're a bit too cerebral, but in a hippie sort of way. You and your partner postponed having kids until she got out of her Ph.D program. Who knew it would take 12 years of fits and starts and a much delayed dissertation. Meanwhile, you supported both of you guys with a job as a medical sales rep for a pharmaceutical company-- a job you hated. When it was finally now or never time to have kids you told your partner it was your turn, got pregnant, and she was forced to take a non tenure track position at a community college. It was tough, but little Claire has made it all worthwhile. Now, you're a SAHM and volunteer at the local CSA and your partner finally had that tenure track job.
