Gonzaga getting out coached at the moment. Maybe he fixes some things in the second half. But shouldn’t 5-5 at half.
PVi’s MS, Fogo and goalie only kids on PVI who would start on Gonzaga
I watched from the 2nd half on.
PVI was the better team, more athletic and had more weapons offensively. PVI keeper made some great stops in the 4th quarter and PVI FOGO was strong at the face-off X. Gonzaga doesn't seem to have a particular strong attack this year relative to years past. PVI's poles were rangy and athletic hence they dominated the ground ball war.
I saw Gonzaga play against Landon a few weeks back (given it was only a scrimmage), I did not walk away impressed at all. Landon beat them pretty soundly through 3 quarters of play.
The Purple Eagle reign in the WCAC might be fading with the emergence of SJC and Georgetown Prep from the IAC getting more lacrosse players who in years past went to Gonzaga.
All elite programs ebb and flow.
It would be great for DC area lacrosse if PVI could sustain the rise of their program.
Great question. PVI’s new Loudon campus will probably be good for lax - Loudon kids can stay in Loudon vs making the miserable daily drive to/from Gonzaga. The move is backfiring for other sports - basketball pipeline from DC and PG county is drying up. Top recruits will not drive to Loudon. And the free public schools in Loudon already have better football and baseball than PVI
