I am a Democrat and I think these issues are so much more complicated than all this. Human motivations and memory and fickle and stange things. I've been deeply uncomfortable, as a feminist and a mother of two boys, about our national conversation around these issues the past three years. It reduces all women to victims and all men to potential or probable perps. I believe our culture damages both men and women and it is no surprise we then damage each other. But the solution is not nuclear destruction in the (often idiotic and irrational) court of public opinion.
Obviously when you have the # of women accusing Harvey Weinstein, with consistent stories, you can deduce that he is and has done what his accusers claim that he is and has done. Trump has so many accusers with consistent stories, and we have his OWN WORDS ON TAPE, so I believe those women wothout doubt.
It gets harder when it is one claim. With Kavanaugh, I have no idea if he did what he was accused of as a teenager. What I objected to was his reaction, his palpable anger. I don't personally trust someone like that to be impartial on our highest court in the land. Likewise, I don't know if Biden did what he is being accused of, but the sad thing about this moment is that in my political calculus I will vote for him over Trump even if he did, if that is who the DNC runs. At least he has experoence in the federal government and can put competent people in positions of responsibility.
PS - While I supported Clinton in the late 90's, I plead youth. He has been f***ing dead to me ever since he admitted guilt in the Lewinsky case.
