I have no idea. Is that something that sexual predators typically use? I doubt it.
It's just weird enough to think that maybe the idea came from a book or a movie or some type of training that a person would have?
Maybe a very creative, but wacky person. Santa's wife?

O.k. that makes a certain amount of sense I suppose. I'm still not understanding why she put on yesterday's clothes when she had a closet full of clothes. PPs have mentioned that maybe she had a limited wardrobe because she had recently gained weight. Yet, she apparently didn't feel the need to pack much because she had a closet full of clothes at their other house....
This woman had clothes. It makes no sense that she would put old party clothes on.
She was wearing a Christmas sweater to the party. She probably wanted to wear it again on their trip. How many Christmas sweaters do you have? Probably one tops, right? Also tell me if Patsy did commit the crime in her clothes she was wearing all night, don't you think she would dispose of the clothes before the police got there, i.e. in case there was evidence on her clothes? It makes no sense to leave an outfit on that you've committed a crime in.

Bet it was in Mrs. Clause's play

Why the ransom note?
There's no reason an intruder would leave both the ransom note and the body.
There's no reason the family would leave both the ransom note and the body.
Sure there is. The ransom note points to an intruder rather than family. Whether the body is ultimately found inside or outside the house, it's useful to the parents to have evidence suggesting the killer wasn't a family member.
An intruder could use the same logic. Throw the police off.
The note points to an intruder. So how would it throw police off of the idea that it was an intruder?
