I agree. The way Jenelle speaks to Barb is like an abuser speaks to his or her victim -- the "you make me act this way" thing she always says when she goes off on a tirade towards her mom. At least now it's on tape, so that no matter how much Jenelle appears to have gotten her life together, the judge can see that she still has a terrible, explosive temper.
I really hope this is true. I think it's pretty obvious that her "calm" demeanor that she is trying to display is heavy meds. Her true behavior is just always simmering right below the surface. I do recall though that Corey wasn't able to use footage of Leah's behavior in their custody case. Hopefully each state is different. It's not like Jenelle doesn't know she is filming and their show isn't scripted.
Corey wasn't able to use the footage because they couldn't verify that it wasn't scripted or edited, and Leah could have argued that the producers told her to act a certain way. And I totally agree with that--we know what we see isn't 100% accurate. The footage is too circumstantial to give a complete picture of whether or not Leah provides a stable home for the kids. All of her negatives could be explained away. She's a crappy mom, but she didn't curse at the girls or beat them on camera. Corey had better evidence with school records, etc. Amber got busted based on footage because she committed a crime on camera (assaulted Gary). I think if Leah assaulted someone, or did illegal drugs, or some kind of crime that was undeniable with visuals, the footage could be used to prosecute. But for a custody case, it's too gray. If she looks like she's driving high, she can say that she was just really tired and the camera didn't show how she'd been up all night caring for the girls. Or if she was taking pills, she could claim that they were prescribed to her, or it was Tylenol or something. If Corey said she wasn't using Ali's wheelchair, Leah could say that she does use it, but they only used footage from the 1 or 2 times during filming that she wasn't in it. Even stuff like feeding the girls dinner at 11pm, she could argue that they just showed the clock, but it was actually much earlier.
I think Barb might have a better shot because her point could be Jenelle's explosive temper. Screaming and cursing at somebody in front of a child is not a crime, but it does say some things about Jenelle. It wouldn't be the cornerstone of a case against her, but it could influence. I just don't even see it going that far though. Jenelle doesn't have the stamina to keep the fight up, and at some point, a judge is going to say that it's too late. Jace is 7. Pretty soon, the courts are going to start asking him what HE wants, and he'll have some kind of advocate if he doesn't already, who can speak for what's best for him. No way they're going to say that living full time with his mother and a man with a criminal record for violent offenses is what that is. They're not deciding whether to remove Jace from Jenelle's custody; they're deciding whether he should be removed from Barb's custody. I think Jenelle not only has to prove that she is a good stable home, but that Barb's place isn't.
