So they sabotaged it? I doubt that very much. I have a higher opinion of FAA employees than you do.

They should have the thanks, prayers, and support of all of us. I cannot imagine anything more scary and horrific. I hope they are all getting excellent mental health support.

This does seem like a crazy intersection to me.
There’s a blackhawk pilot on ABC News - the helicopter was likely not flying low enough given planes descending onto the runway.
People complain when they fly low.
So fly in the path of commercial flights? This should not be left to the pilot’s discretion.
ATC tells the helicopter to go around the plane to no response.

Mostly frozen? Temps have been above freezing for several days.
I work at the Wharf and the river freezes and unfreezes when it's in the 40s 50s during the day.
I work in old town and am from Wisconsin. Rivers here don’t freeze beyond a thin surface layer for a day or two.
Wrong.

Sick like the defense secretary beginning his statement on a massive human tragedy caused by his employees by bragging that he is “leaning in” to shackling immigrants and sending them to Guantanamo? Like, that kind of sick?

Well large sections of the river were still frozen know-it-all, whether you understand that or not.
(How arrogant many posters are. Multiple people said they saw ice with their own eyes but you still think you are right!)

To come to this thread and see people spouting off about DEI when our community just lost real children with so much talent and life left to live … there simply are no words. This is real life. These are real people. This is an unimaginable tragedy.
I know, I didn't know any of these people but I've teared up several times today reading about this. It's so heartbreaking. And this just hits so close to home, thinking about all the times we, and so many others who live here, fly in and out of DCA.

Not so sure about the so called training.
I thought they delivered VIPs to CIA, no?
Yes, they dropped the VIP(s?) off at Langley and then a less experienced pilot took the controls for "training hours" for the flight back. They are very much trying to hide that the reason the helicopter was there at all was because some faux-VIP wanted to skip traffic.
If you know this, report it anonymously to the NTSB
It’s in the public flight record that the helicopter originated from the area near Langley.
