No, Youngkin campaigned hard in the Virginia midterms for Republicans across the state and very few of them won. I know when he won the governorship, people had high hopes for him, but he turned out to be a dud who simply won with a combo of suburban moms who were angry about slow Covid school reopenings and a really bad/unmotivating opponent.

He's not satisfying because he has humble beginnings but then used the humble beginnings to sell books, was coastal elite liberal before turning conservative when his book was panned by coastal elites. It's like he is trying on different identities still and has a weak core.

I was also worried it would be Haley, because, honestly, if she had been the top of the ticket, I would have probably voted Republican this fall, especially as Biden continues to show so many signs of not having it all together. If it had been her (or even Tim Scott), it would have added a moderating force to the ticket that I think could have gotten some voters who are concerned about Biden's age. But JD Vance is just even more Trump and does nothing to broaden the appeal of the ticket.

I still don't feel great though, because now if Trump wins, it's just double the crazy in the White House. A bad move all around.
