Yes. Incidents are now being publicly disclosed rather than ignored and covered up. And the musical has finally been scheduled for a date certain!
Updating an old thread because i want to put hardy in a fair light: (I a a current student there) We recently had our 2025 musical, the new drama teacher is fantastic, the new principal (westover) has cracked down on violence (she stands at a bus stop on wisconsin and supervises) and for anyone arguing for deal for academics, I should mention that I took algebra 1 in 6th grade (yes it is possible, and Hardys math program is truly fantastic, English and Science are pretty bad but thats just the curicculum, just gotta wait for dcps to realise how utterly atrocious their curriculum is (my parents both teach DCPS elementary school). for what its worth, kids at deal hate it, its so competetive that next to no one can make it onto school teams, so opportunities for participation are very limited.
sorry for any spelling errors, I am writing this on an ereader
Thank you for this! My kid is currently at Hardy and loves it (he actually likes English and science best though, lol).

I asked them whether the interim principal or the other administrators had held an assembly or otherwise met with the students to introduce themselves and explain the transition. Apparently, there has been nothing. The teachers - perhaps unsurprisingly - havenât told them anything either. If true, this is disappointing. DCPS and the new administration should have the respect for the students to at least keep them informed about such a major change at their school. Keeping them in the dark in this way is not a good look.
Our family does not feel kept in the dark. The entire Hardy community was invited to a DCPS Central Office zoom on the process for selecting a new principal, which was followed by this blast email:
Thank you for attending tonightâs info session about the principal selection process. As promised, I have included the presentation deck, info session recording, feedback link, Campus POC info, and my contact information. I look forward to supporting Hardy through the principal selection process. Should you have any questions do not hesitate to reach out.

I guess expecting DCUM posters to understand that students and their parents are distinct people was asking too much. Middle schoolers are old enough to be directly informed by the school. As a parent, I feel well enough informed. But Iâm not the one directly affected by this, my kid is.
hahah this parent doesn't talk to their kid about what's going on at school but is criticizing the school for not talking to their kid for them. LOL so perfect for this thread.
this is the dcum mindset, right here
No one gives a shit about what your views on the âdcum mindsetâ.
The interim principal should have held an assembly or, if that couldnât be done, found a way to get the word to students directly.
