For our 1 MS and 1 HS kids it was - a movie in history class, a Kahoot followed by free time in Health, a non-graded quiz followed by free time in Geometry, finish any unfinished work followed by free time in Chemistry.
Only what 12 more days like this? Yay can’t wait
Wait until the snow days kick in. This is what you should have been fighting the SB on versus calling teachers lazy mother****.

No actually it is unfair to the 95% of kids that will be in school that they are forced to waste the day rather than just letting those missing the day have time to make it up and learn the new info.

I asked if I could do that (introduce a new concept if it was going to have additional days of instruction). Got a resounding “no” from admin and central office when one administrator reaches out for clarification. The first day of a concept cannot be on an O day. Period.
It’s idiotic. I literally printed out first day of school team building activities because there is nothing we can review yet (2 whole days of content so far!)
I’ll seek forgiveness after the fact. I didn’t ask. So I don’t know really what my school is following
Honestly, there was a training. It is not what the school is following. It is a county wide initiative. Don’t teach new content. It isn’t a hard concept. I don’t agree with it by any means, but to say you don’t know what the school is doing is wrong. Practice a skill that you will be doing many times a year.

Easier yes. Legal. No.
Then again, this is very much not legal.
The O days are not legal in the slightest. They are picking and choosing religious holidays to honor w/o a secular basis. Their own data do not support these days. Their own lawyers told them not to do it.
Is there a legal challenge in the works?
What law are they breaking?
Establishment Clause of the Constitution
Freedom of religion includes the right to be free from religion. Here, FCPS is favoring some religions over others. And worse, is forcing all learning to pause based on religious holidays without a compelling secular reason. Absolutely illegal.
I hope someone is suing.

Not sure what you teach, but you can review previous grades concepts that you might need to review anyway.
