I saw that comment from a previous poster and that person is living in fantasy land. A regulation sized turf field with lighting is in the $1.7 - $2.0m range. That’s *one* field. You do the math.

Yeah, that sounds much more on point. Not to mention parking facilities and the stands and food/beverage facilities.

What fields would they use in PWC (assuming this means Prince William County)?

If "just down the road" that would imply Long Park.

Never.

I don't disagree, but it is the only just down the road Prince William field I can think of. Just down the road is relative but VSA and VDA are not giving those fields up.

I can’t think of any parks/facilities that Barca could use in PWC. They aren’t getting public field space.

PWC is not just down the road at all.

Does the field really change the value of the product that much? I mean, Evergreen does have the best facilities in the area, but would someone actually change clubs because the field changes? FCV also uses Bles Park fields which are grass not turf like Evergreen but still pretty decent. Barca has used Morven park fields in the past which aren't bad. I would imagine any field that Barca uses would also be pretty good. Point is I think you are putting too much weighting on field quality in choosing a soccer club. Of course, field location and travel time is a HUGE factor but it's not likely an existing team would make a significant geographic change and risk losing the bulk of their rosters

Depending on grass fields is very risky in this area. Any amount of rain, and Bles is a puddle. If they're dry, they are good fields. But if the team plays their matches on turf all the time, practicing on grass isn't always the most helpful.

Right - but I would think those fields are all booked up by VDA/VSA teams.

The actual turf seems like it's the same as every other location. I guess if your kid practices on the main field, you could sit comfortably in the bleachers if you are the type to watch practice. Otherwise, I don't see the benefit of playing on a team that practices there as opposed to any other turn field

Holy crap. This looks awesome! I live a few miles from there and had no idea this was even in the works. I hope my kids Barca teams move here.

It will be interesting to see how this affects Evergreen. It doesn't look like VA Rev is big enough to use Evergreen at full capacity. I would guess that they won't be able to charge what they were charging previously.

Perhaps they weren't big enough because they didn't have the field space? No they can expand aggressively knowing that fields won't be a problem.

league membership will be a barrier to expanding aggressively
