+1. being progressive can also mean being intolerant of views that differ from yours. In my experience, one sign of an accepting community is to have real diversity (political views, SES, ethnic, gender, etc). The students I've encountered in the area you're looking at aren't what I'd describe as warm or friendly tbh.

I'm not sure there's any easy way to meet other LGBTQ+ families in the area. As one poster said above, it's a non-issue at our W feeder. There are two two-mom families just in DD's grade that I know about and they socialize with other families in their neighborhood as far as I can tell.

I do agree there's are more socieoeconomic issues. I don't know kids who look down on others for not having as much money but the assumptions are that everyone has airpods, iphones, and an afford to spend $50 bucks on an outing at the mall regularly, go to international vacations each break, and don't bat an eye when classmates are have private sports trainers and spend thousands on club sports each year.

I'm in upcounty and practically a lifelong MoCo resident. I have friends all over MoCo and no one I know closely or even as an acquaintance would bat an eye over this. Plus most of the kids around here are pretty accepting of all backgrounds (even more so than the adults). My kids are in middle school and seriously, they and their friends don't care. I do agree with the person up above though that depending on what area in MoCo you are in, you might encounter kids who look down on others for not having as much money as them (ex. type of clothes they wear, type of parties they throw, where they live, etc.)

Following this thread. We are a two-dad family with kids starting K this fall at Luxmanor. Would be great to meet other LGBTQ+ families.

Why the hell would I tell you what street I grew up on? You seem to know everything about every neighborhood that feeds into WJ, so you should know which streets have more or less McMansions, right? Or is your reading comprehension poor, and you don’t want to admit it?
