It seems they wanted to deny admissions to the advanced URMs (kids with 4.0 and Geom) just so they can have a method that would guarantee "success" in the total numbers of URMs and FARM
Where is your data to support preferred admissions for alg 1 students?
It is anecdotal so far. If you read through the various threads here, you'll see Alg 2 and Geom kids on WL while Alg1 kids get in. You xN be in denial all you want. The admissions this year had nothing to do with the essays or problem solving. They found a way of increasing URM and FARM admissions without looking at the race of specific applicants. Basically, by screwing all of the advanced kids, including including URMs.
I'm sure the detailed data will have to be released soon enough. Braband replacement will just put the blame on the predecessor
Will be VERY surprised if the number of students beginning in Geometry this year is more than about 30%.
This sounds more like the opening of the five stages of grief.

It's inevitable that TJ will decline and there will be pressure to introduce additional classes at base schools if there is more demand. And then the School Board can obsess over why a course is available at Oakton but not Lewis, even though they've ignored for decades that TJ students had opportunities denied others.
They didn't ignore it - TJ is a Governor's school. It's supposed to have opportunities denied others.

Safety in numbers. The goal is to transform TJ into a display project where FCPS can point and say "look at the URMs who graduated from our STEM magnet." Lottery by another name.
