Nah, we’re not going back to that. People won’t do it again, especially since we already have vaccines so there’s nothing else to wait for. Most people are not willing to go into indefinite covid purgatory.

I never double masked. I was fully vaccinated in February and wore a mask whenever inside public places until the VA mask mandate was lifted. I teach an ES grade and wore a mask while at work through the end of school of course. I keep a mask in my pocket in case I go somewhere that requires one, but most places are requiring a mask right now.

I figure there will always be variants. I'm in Fairfax County and we have daily case counts in the low single digits to 0 most days. If we can't start going without masks now when will we?

My elderly relatives, who stayed quite isolated all throughout 2020, are very happily going to restaurants unmasked to eat indoors with friends of theirs, because they're all fully vaccinated and they don't want to stay home now that it's not necessary. And my kids are at very little risk even if they did somehow get covid from me, which is unlikely since I'm also fully vaccinated. So no, not particularly afraid.

Who cares about the heat? It is better to be safe and alive. You are going to protect yourself and the community.


But I did protect myself and the community, by getting vaccinated as early as I possibly could (in my case, in late January).

I have been the most crazy, most paranoid person throughout this whole pandemic. I know how to sanitize groceries with the best of them. But even I have never had two masks on my face at once. If my kn95 isn’t going to protect me, a piece of cloth over it sure isn’t going to help.
