If you can afford it, have a few wardrobe staples custom-made. Then build around those staples with pieces that you can buy off the rack that are easier to fit, like tops.

I just found this forum. The negative comments have vanished. I assume some comments were not sympathetic to thin women discussing the difficulty of finding clothes that fit well and were made for females no longer in middle school. I am a 5'2", 95 pound woman with size 5 feet. I would love to find a reliable source for well made, well tailored classic styles that fit me. The hot water cycle on my washer coupled with the hottest setting on my dryer is my "go-to" technique to try to get jeans to fit me. However, I can attest this method is not reliable. Thoughts for reliable sources of small sized clothes without the Hello Kitty logo? I have had some success with vintage -- but old fabrics ofen wrinkle, itch or sag. BEBE has small sizes but the core audience seems to be "ladies of the evening." The Duchess of Windsor famously said: "No one can be too rich or too thin." Her skinny body was clothed in custom made designer outfits. Solution: Add a seamstress or two to your household staff of chef, butler, gardener ..... Oh! That's Downton Abbey not DC.

Ugh, I have the same issue. I was born a preemie, 2 months early so I've always been on the small side. I'm 5'7" and barely 100lbs (size 24 or 25 waist), not my fault, I eat EVERYTHING. Anyways, that's besides the point. I love Express Columnist pants (straight leg, size 00S fit) but there's such a limited selection in stores and they're $80/pair. My bf called my current work pants (flare dress pants from Kohls) frumpy so now I envision myself looking like Pam from The Office -_- This thread is extremely helpful so thank you! FYI, invest in a sewing machine and practice, it makes alterations soooo much more affordable! Outlet shopping is nice too. Oh, I've also gotten a shift dress, a pencil skirt and a pair of pinstripe slacks from H&M that fit really well.

Does anyone know of boot cut work pants that might look good on a thin frame? All boot cut pants I've tried give me that frumpy look and they end up looking like wide leg pants as opposed to boot cut. Maybe it's just not the right fit.

Oh and I'm looking for more tightly fitting clothes because regular sized clothes then to get baggy on me and end up showing more skin. Like when you lean over and the chest area sags and is revealing. THANKS!

You guys are mean. I'm 5.2 107. Was 99 before I got pregnant. I try to gain but so far can't. I have a very hard time buying clothes that don't look silly. I'm short and skinny and its bit easy to find clothes. I also wear a size 4 shoe. So don't get me into that misery.

definitely try theory. i'm 5 8" and size 2 in most clothes (e.g., J Crew), but a size 4 in Theory and the pants are about an inch too long for me. I think a Theory size 2 would be perfect for you.

I have the same problem as you "Anonymous" I'm 5"2" and 95 lbs. Very very tiny. Im healthy, and eat ALOT, its just genetics for me. Most people don't understand, pointing out your frailty is the same as calling someone fat. Anyways... Im a big fan of express.. I am super tiny but there tops fit me great (xxs and 00)! I do buy there pants at a 00 but I have to have them tailored. I have yet to find work paints that fit w/out being tailored. You will also LOVE there suit and casual jackets. Leggings and skinny jeans are big and in you can easily find these to fit, and incorporate them into a work outfit. I work for the government so I to need to dress for success, and EXPRESS is my fav! You will just have to do a lot of shopping and overtime acquire a mix of pieces that you can creatively mix and match to make masterpieces.

Also, for those that have replied previously stores do NOT cater to women of our size.. Stores sizes run large these days and tall due to the overall American Standard of tall (no offense) obese women. I have a terrible time finding things to fit.

I'm 5'3" 114 lbs and I wear 00 in JCrew and Theory suits, so I have absolutely no idea how the women who weigh less than I do find anything that fits them. JCrew petite is way too short, for people who are less than 5" or have shorter lets. If being on the slimmer side wasn't difficult enough, I am also the worst possible height for finding clothing (otherwise 5'3" is alright) because I'm too tall for petite and too short for regular. What's a girl to do? JCrew regular sizes in 00 is about a cm too long on the arm but the pants can be just right, depending on the style. Theory always runs long for me. I hate that high-end brands are made for much taller people and I'm tempted to just find a tailor to make custom clothing for me. Good luck to you all and I will keep checking to see if other people have good suggestions.

I'm 5'7" 98lbs and tiny-framed. I appreciate all the advice given in this thread. It is incredibly difficult to find clothes, let alone suitable work clothes that fit correctly off the rack. I really can't afford to have everything or anything tailored at this point, or I would surely look into the option.

01/31/2013 11:22 - what type of clothing at Victoria's Secret have you found to be smaller in size? Their lingerie and in-store items tend to run large, so I've avoided looking into their clothing options.

Women who are very thin have trouble finding clothes just like all women. The problems may be different but they still have them. The women who asked the question was not looking for health advice or wondering whether she was underweight. A healthy weight for each person is different.

I am sick and tired of insecure overweight women acting hostile and rude to thin women and refusing to believe they can have clothes/body issues as well. Grow up and stop letting your insecurities affect the way you treat other people, it is pathetic and harmful.

Instead of bashing this woman for her body type - why not give advice.
It seems to be acceptable for people to ask a thin person how much they weigh or what size they wear.
But, if an overweight person were asked the same questions it would be found offensive.

Victoria Secret clothing is good too. You have to order everything (no physical store sells the clothes as far as I know). Either they have free shipping or I find promo codes for free shipping. They do not have free return shipping. That's really my only complaint. Zappos has spoiled me there!

I've had to shop at places like Forever 21 to find pants. I've spent tons altering clothes. It sucks. Sure, I'd rather have this problem than be on the other end of the spectum, but it's no picnic.

OP, I've had the best luck with Theory. They have size 00, which is smaller than 0. You can find it at Bloomies or saks and some boutiques. They are on the pricy side but very good quality and stylish but simple clothes. You're taller than me, but I think Theory is on the long side. I think Banana also started carrying 00. If you can pick through the cheap looking stuff and find the more mature pieces, I've found that places like Forever 21, Arden B, and bebe run smaller but you just have to do some digging to find work appropriate stuff. HTH.

Regular sized people don't get it.

Theory is great. I find their stuff at Marshall's and TJ MAXX sometimes. Try the Metro Center TJ. It is geared more to the 9-5 crowd.
