I also love the name Joan and nicknames! I might also describe my Aunt Joan as a "tough broad"

Interestingly enough, the pejorative aspect of this moniker is directed at women in GenX 40s, 50s..not Baby Boomers, so it's a shame it was taken out of circulation, because Karens are rarely "Karens."

They should have used Heather or Stephanie. Karen is an older name.

I know at least 5 GenX Karens in their 40s.

I can't believe that I actually liked the name Kayleigh at one point. Luckily I hated it by the time we actually got to naming our children.

Susan, Linda, Carol, Mary, Deborah, Diane, are all beautiful names. And certainly more original than Gabriella, Olivia, etc. at this point (also beautiful names but common now). I particularly like Laura. The point is, pick something you like and that is meaningful to you. My neighbors just had a baby boy, named him Cooper (for me, I think "rhymes with Pooper"); they love the name and that's what matters.
