“We’re devastated,” said D.C. Mayor Muriel E. Bowser (D), who attended the briefing. “We have to say to the community, ‘we’re going to stand against gun violence.’ ”
I'm going to say it again:
Antonin Scalia and the Roberts court did this to DC. They made up an individual right to own guns. They did this to help their donors and gain political advantage in red areas outside DC.
It is disgusting and it is despicable. Without the Roberts court, DC would ban guns, and likely VA and MD gun ownership would also be curtailed, greatly decreasing the supply of handguns in DC.
It is time to ban handguns in America.
Oh, was the gun used in the crime legal and registered?
The real question is not this impoverished and lame hairsplitting, but instead,
Is DC awash in guns because of the Roberts Court and Scalia and the Republican Party?
And the answer is unquestionably yes. Republicans have blood on their hands. How can there be any question?
The whole world looks at Republicans making these stupid arguments about legal and not and whether guns kill people and just laughs at their stupidity.
Ban handguns — like Canada does — and this shooting wouldn’t have happened. Scalia enabled this. Roberts enabled this. All for votes for tax cuts for the rich.
Gun violence is inherently political because it is possible only due to political decisions. To the troll who will come and say “don’t politicize this” — You can’t separate shootings from politics.

What about the 4 year old kid?
If you have kids with you all the more reason not to argue with strangers. People who live in DC shouldn’t believe they are exempt from violence because they are white or own an expensive house in Logan Circle.
Victim blame much?
We don’t even know if the mother “argued.” She could have just asked the guy to move the scooter.
Why? Seriously why? If it was in her way he saw her and was being an assh#. If it wasn’t in her way why say anything at all. Just move it when he’s gone
Is there some rule book that I can read that can help me know how I can interact with people without getting shot?
Apparently there are all sorts of rules that I was not aware of that would make me a deserved victim of violent crime (and death) that only apply to living in DC but nowhere else.
Help me understand this please!
Is this a serious question? Yes, there are rules in a city, especially DC right now. They are MYOB and STFU. Don’t get into confrontations with strangers on the street. If you get mugged or carjacked, hand it over as calmly as possible.
So we are to allow the most violent among us to control and regulate us for fear that they will arbitrarily exact violence against us?
I’m sorry but I’m not going to live like a hostage to psychotic sociopaths every time I walk outside my house. I’m sad that you feel that you need to.
I mean, what do you want me to say? You apparently feel that due to some intrinsic quality or special right you have, you are immune from crime. You’re not.
DP. So you hide from strangers and are afraid to use your voice in front of them? Your life must be so sad and small.
No, I don’t hide from strangers. I use basic street smarts. If you think that somehow ruins one’s life, maybe you’re not cut out to live in a city.
NP. Look, I get it. You can't afford to move outside the city. But that doesn't mean you need to rationalize violence and death as a normal daily thing that everyone should just accept

It was an electric dockless one. The witnesses were the other sibling and the woman's husband. (They've been named in the press already) The shooter is at large.

It kinda sounds like the PP is one of those sociopaths. Perhaps that’s why they excuse violence.

PP, not everyone is built to cower and hide in fear like you. No, there is no rule that you can’t ask someone to move their scooter or else you risk death. Get real.
Ok, you do you. I bet this family wished they had MYOB.
