Agree with you, but OP said that DC's SAT was high 1300s. Under the new normal at VT, that is not getting DC into VT unless DC applies ED to a college other than engineering and perhaps goes test optional (or better yet gets SAT up into the upper 1400s).

Yeah, that poster is smoking crack. My kid applied to V Tech last year with a 1300 and got in, as did basically everyone else she knew with similar stats. Might not cut it for engineering, but in state is a very gapped shot for everything else.

The Naviance data are from last year.

If you read through the lamentations and wailings on this board and college confidential about VT denials and waitlists, you will a lot of high stats NOVA kids who didn't make it (although I agree that this might be distorted by the engineering crowd that posts on these boards).

OP's DC could get into VT (particularly as OOS) if DC applies to a school other than engineering.

Any kid who wants a "party school" is not smart.
