Now that the OP's worth has reached $8M, there are lots of opportunities to do good in the world and right now there is incredible need (and increasing need in the DMV this year). If you wanted to give away just 5% of assets this year, that'd be $400,000. (Think of the positive impact you could make with 10%! But even a small percentage like 2-3% could make a big difference).
