This is exactly why I am worried that the new "rules" that Northam is putting in place on May 28 won't be as liberating as people seem to be predicting. Our board is keeping reservations and roped off sections right now for open swim because they say they can't trust members to observe the 10 ft social distancing. So if the revised guidance says that unvaccinated people still have to observe 6 ft of social distancing, then I think our board will continue to take a hard line on the roped off sections for open swim because they will say that kids aren't vaccinated yet and can't be trusted to social distance. Pool boards who are taking this stance now are potentially boxing themselves into a no-win situation from a member perspective. We go to Dominion Hills, which is notorious for being one of the strictest pools in NVSL. Curious to hear what other NVSL pools are saying.
Dominion Hills was not strict with covid protocols in regards to their swim team. There were far stricter pools last summer - some that did not open at all.
The membership would revolt if other pools are being normal. The only "restriction" in place will be masks for the unvacccinated. And they will probably be an honor system. Although MD is allowing for a check system if a business wants to.

Aren’t the “new rules” all distancing and capacity requirements will be lifted on the 28th? There will be no more new rules.
As far as masks the mask mandate lifted at midnight on Saturday. Those who are unvaccinated are encouraged to wear masks.
Right- the Governor said in his press release no more rules. His Chief of Staff called out pools specifically at the press conference and said 'if you are planning a summer swim league, plan for a normal summer.' For those who are not satisfied by those statements- I don't know what to tell you.
FWIW- Dominion Hills is the ONLY pool in the NVSL that I am aware of that is still planning on roping off sections off the pool. Even prior to the most recent announcement about restrictions being lifted May 28th- numerous NVSL pools had already announced that weren't even doing reservations but simply keeping an eye on overall capacity, and telling people to distance. (e.g. Donaldson Run, Arlington Forest, Kent Gardens) .
PP here. I am on a board that seems to have mixed interpretations. It shouldn’t be this confusing, but for some reason it is turning out to be. Short of a direct order saying “Pools don’t have to lower capacity and can lift distancing requirements”, I don’t know what else to look for.
There is a VRPS webinar on May 20th with Olivia McCormack which should repeat the same message. https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=bZqwF-SVHk2F4xzg1N5_wZTwapCPIFlErLEdUvlbq5pUODU1UVBDSFlNR05WVDVPNExHWVZPQU5YRi4u&fbclid=IwAR3nNdx7WABu4l-chBIhAEzUgh-1hAOEF2Cat75CcuApcqCwosxBE3s58SM
Hopefully pools coming out and announcing their plans will help pressure recalcitrant board members to loosen up.
Any clarification or update on state guidance from this webinar today?

Just in the last couple of days, my Springfield area community pools have all announced they are opening with zero restrictions.
I don’t know any more from NVSL and the Swim Team reps yet.
