I love perfume and have a full tray of them...The top favorite currently is Castaine Tuberose from a fancy Lancome line. I love Bois D'Armenie and Tonka Imperial by Guerlain. The former is sadly discontinued. Then I love Andy Tauer Lonestar Memories. It is just delicious. Baiser de Russie by Guerlain. The entire Portraits set by Penhaligon is amazing. God there's so much, I'd wear them all if I could.

L’Artisan Timbuktu (DQ’d, sadly)
Sand and Sable
In minute amounts Parfums de Nicolai Cap Neroli. So beautiful but so strong I spray a tissue, then dab the tissue on my pulse points.

Serge Lutens Chergui
I have some others from Gucci, Guerlin and Bottega Veneta that I wear occasionally but Chergui is my go-to scent.

I've been wearing Replica Lazy Sunday Morning - it smells very linen/fresh laundry on me and makes me feel cozy.

Weird thing is the first time I put on Santal I hated it. Thought it smelled like a dill pickle. But then I smelled the candle version and couldn’t get enough of it.

I also like a lot of the Maison Margiela ones.

I tried to understand the hype around Le Labo Santal and failed.
Even my child thinks it stinks. Glad I only ordered a sample!

Goes to answer OP's original question: it's very hard to recommend a fragrance to anybody. Not only is our chemistry different, so are our noses.

It's really hard to recommend a perfume to someone else. You really do have to try it. I'd invest in a bunch of sample bottles and go from there.

I agree. You really need to try it on yourself before buying. I have spritzed fragrances of friends on myself and had to take a full shower to get it off when I think those same scents smell great on them. Lucky Scent and The Perfumed Court are great for samples!

I agree wholeheartedly!

I've ordered multiple samples this past year (wanted some variety in my quarantine life) and let me tell you, some of this overpriced, overhyped stuff stinks. Surprisingly, run-of-the-mill department store fragrances are usually inoffensive, worst that can happen, you'll smell like a room freshener. But with those 'niche','artisan, $500-per-bottle perfumes Try before you buy, and try multiple times.

Yes! The celebrity fragrances are so popular because they’re inoffensive and appealing to everyone. A little bit of floral, a little bit of fruity, and you’re done. The specialty fragrances on the other hand ..... I can’t understand the appeal of some of them. Looking at you, heavy-ass Tom Ford scents. And then I have a sample of one of the orchid ones of his and it lasts for all of 2 hours.
