After thinking about long and had we have decided to slip the coach an envelope with an extra $1000 in it. We aren't telling our DC anything about it. We will be staying at MYS.

Across the board, McLean is gonna cut the players that aren't at the ECNL level and for one of the teams that's probably half the team. Yes, there are some that shouldn't be there, but with the pandemic there were no tryouts and coaches assembled the teams based on what they knew about the players for the 20-21 season.
[b]My DD plays ECNL and that's the level my DD wants to continue playing, but if my DD doesn't make ECNL her decision is to stop playing. I think McLean didn't think this through and is basically shooting themselves in the foot. [b]
It’s doubtful McLean would outright cut any current ECNL player unless they were getting no playing time whatsoever as of late. More likely to put those marginal players in a “dual roster” pool between ECNL and EDP vs Green team, depending on roster size.
Highly doubt that any of those families would accept that demotion after losing the roster spot to a new kid from SYC.
This is absolutely happening on the boys side. Plus, the bigger roster size will make the kids compete to play on weekends which will supposedly raise their play. Most development happens in practice is MYS's mindset and games are secondary. Kid's who don't make the weekend rosters will eventually burn out.
How can McLean rosters get any bigger? They're already at 30+ kids on some teams.

Anonymous wrote:Good news for any of the Mclean boys who get cut. You can move over to BRYC and be a feature player right away.

So your daughter will either play Mclean ECNL or quit? What would she have done if those same SYC (and other club players) just showed up at the tryout and beat her out? There were always going to be lots of kids at tryouts this year given lack of full tryouts last year and concerns around changing clubs in the environment.
