It is for sure much better. Sheridan kids don't tend to or want to go to Cathedral schools, but they have stronger enrollment at Sidwell, Maret and GDS than any other school on this list.
Not in my child's HS grade. Norwood swamped all of these k-8 schools for students at two of the 3 you HS you mentioned.
Seems not right according to the HS placement on Norwood's website. https://www.norwoodschool.org/program/high-school-placement

Different graduating class than the one reported here.

I’m actually so glad that the K-8 we’re looking at for DD is low on most of these lists.

I would not rank these schools. In my experiences as a parent at one, with friends at all, I think they are all equivalent schools, with different populations and desired outcomes for outplacement (though all have a chunk who are desirous of Big 3). Each of these schools is an excellent school for the right child and a lackluster school for the child who is not the right fit.
Looking at outplacement is also not a fair apples to apples comparison either. For example, one school might have 3 girls admitted to NCS and 2 boys to St. Alban's in a given year. so in that year, outplacement looks strong. What we don't know is that 2 of those 5 students are a set of twins with a mother and grandmother who attended NCS and are major donors, and 2 have siblings there now. So only one 1 of the 5 students was admitted "unhooked".
Families should not select a k-8 if their end goal is a very specific place. Those families really need to focus on entering that K-12 school at the earliest entry point. Choose a K-8 that seems like a place where your child's specific qualities will be nurtured and developed so that your child is in the setting that will bring the best out of your child. That may be a different school than the best one for my kid. It doesn't mean my kid's school is somehow better than your kid's school.
I group the schools this way, not a ranking. Grouped bc of similarities in student/families profiles and desired outcomes:

These lists seem influenced by where you live. Most of the responses seem DC centered - if school is in DC, then it's better than a school further out. Why not include Langley here? I think many of the DC residents have no idea how good schools like Langley and Norwood are. Not going to bother to rank. Very happy parent at Norwood who's grads went onto Big 3 and thrived (along with Norwood classmates).

If you value <middle school> Lowell over Sheridan Sheridan is getting a new middle school head who has never been a middle school head. It is going to take a while to get him situated.

I'm not hating on WES, it's just not generally lumped with these schools on dcum.
That’s not true. As an independent school in Bethesda with large playing fields and a challenging curriculum what other schools would it be lumped with?
The outliers are Lowell and to a lesser degree Sheridan. Norwood is nice but geographically not attractive to those in NWDC or close in Bethesda.
