Will DC be doing any more sign ups just for 65+ or are they just going to have to compete with all the prexisting condition folks from here on out?

I hope they do. It’s an extreme mess if they don’t.

DC has created SO many 'baskets' now. They may do a separate sign up for 65+, but it will be for fewer doses so your chance will be the same--just the lines won't crash (maybe). Between the clinics vaccinating out of state workers, separate hospital allotments for client lists (how is this really ethical ), zip code set asides, ages groups and at-risk condition groups--they've kind of made it so everyone has a slim chance unless you fall into more than one category. Then you're golden!

The idea behind decentralization is to get the vaccine out through multiple channels. So, yes, teachers, homeless people, resident populations, and kids 16-17 have separate pools of vaccine than the general public.

And people who have been patients in a hospital for the past two years have a set-aside. and undocumented, and other out of state "essential workers". When you get to the actual amount of vaccine being released on the GOV weekly website/phone line - it is about 1/3 of the actual available supply is the number I believe I have seen cited. If you have other pipelines, your chance goes up. If that's your only pipeline--it's slim pickings. Math!

And yet, both I and several people I know have had luck through the portal this week. So there's that.

Hopefully at some point with three vaccines in production, anyone who wants a vaccine will be able to get one.

DC’s vaccine rollout is ridiculous and embarrassing.
That is all.

Just offering that bit of info to help alleviate fears that no vaccines are actually getting assigned to folks via the systems they set up. Until I was able to get through (this was the 3rd round of I had tried for) I started to suspect that people on the inside were giving slots away to friends and families or even stealing and selling them.

Same here. All of my friends and family (around 8 people) who were eligible managed to make an appointment- I think it's just dumb luck, but they're definitely being allocated. The system is obviously terrible so I hope it improves but just wanted to share to assuage concerns the appointments weren't being made at all.

Not much comfort to me. Four different adults (myself included) tried on separate computers and phones to try to get my mom an appointment and not one of us succeeded.

Yep, Im happy for PP but we had no luck. Also can't get on a hospital selected "list". Have been to many DC hospitals or affiliates, but not in last two years

Hang in there. No matter what state you live in around here, people are still fighting over scarce shots. I finally got my neighbor an appointment last week after weeks of trying.

Thnx, will do. Don't have another option LOL

And, we can't try other avenues for her, like we might in another state. We can't try our luck at a CVS, Rite Aide, grocery pharmacy, etc. So we're boxed in to this free for all tech dystopia.

I’ve been asked by my agency to get vaccinated, but they are not one of the few agencies to directly distribute shots. DC won’t vaccinate me as a federal employee, “continuity of government” only applies to District government employees.

I’m using a relative’s address in MD and will use my passport and federal agency ID card.

Is MD vaccinating Feds right now?
