She is very much a narcissist with a messiah complex much like the rich trust fund kids who gravitate to those token positions. Nobody was allowed to speak to her when she traveled unless cameras were rolling. A ton of money was spent to fund lavish fundraising galas where she took center stage. The galas barely ever broke even. She’s disingenuous much like the NGO execs she rubs elbows with. They are all the same. Don’t expect a pat on the back for saving the world when you are expensing for your hair and make up team.

Yes, I actually work with hundreds of primatologists, and guess what? They are all at home. Their seasons have been canceled, their field work is on hold, their labs are mostly closed. The idea that Ashley Judd, an earnest amateur at best, a dilettante at worst, NEEDED to go to Congo, or even more laughably, that the bobobos NEEDED her, is patently ludicrous.
