Rules are rules and if you don’t like rules stay home. If you don’t like order and living in harmony with others stay home.

It really pisses me off when others just don't wear the mask when asked at games. I hate wearing the thing too, but it's the rule right now so the kids can keep playing. Put your BS to the side. Not sure why people think they are so superior. If you don't like it watch from your car or have someone film for you. We were at a tournament in Columbia, MD in the fall and one of the parents on the other team refused to wear a mask. A tournament organizer asked him politely to wear a mask, he refused, they brought in a supervisor who asked him to wear a mask, he refused. They then went to the coach and team manager and said he can leave or the team forfeits. He refused to wear the mask again and refused to leave so they ended the game in the first half. Everyone was pissed including our team that wanted to play. Parents on the other team were apologizing to our parents and kids. I also felt bad for the kid too.

These pre-season tournaments are either wake up calls to coaches who sat pat and didn't do much practicing during winter or confirmation that their winter practice routine was on point in terms of development. The early games on Saturday and Sunday were brutal weather wise. The boys just wanted to get out of there.

Last but not lease I must say I was unimpressed with VSA parents who refused to wear masks while standing and barking on the field. While Arlington did a good job hosting, the mask enforcement was very poor.

Parents who didn't comply really pissed me off, but I don't know that there's much ASA could have done other than disqualify the teams, which is a really harsh consequence for kids who had no control over their parents.

Thank heaven for some parents with the sanity to stand up to the nonsense.

I’m a VSA parent and yes....we have a lot of COVID-19 isn’t real conspiracy types in our club. It’s the region. Sorry the parents weren’t wearing the masks. The club does ask everyone to, but people don’t always listen. I was at a different location and also witness some of our own “standing up against the man”.

How many Manassas players through the partnership are playing on the mls next teams? Those lmvsc players were good, and SYC already had some talent, but they have added players from elsewhere.

Complaining about Arlington and SYC aside, their performances in this tournament in the top brackets were very impressive. In the 6 age groups, those two clubs accounted for 8 out of the 12 teams in the championship, and *ALL 6 championships*.

Congrats to Arlington and SYC.

Congrats to Arlington for a very well-run tournament.

On the seeding of the ASA teams, my understanding is that coaches had some amount of say in the division their teams played in if they were on the bubble. Out team had a rough time this tournament, and the coach was candid with some parents that they chose the higher division because they felt like most of the team had gotten too complacent in the fall, counting I just a couple of players to carry them. They knew if they played in the lower division, they’d probably come in second based almost exclusively on the effort of those few players, and the rest of the team would learn nothing from the experience. Not surprisingly, the parents who howled the most about the tournament placement were the parent of the free riders.

To their credit, the team played a whole lot harder today than in either game they played yesterday, so hopefully the message sunk in a bit.

Potentially true, considering that last year in this same tournament, Bethesda won both top brackets (on age) for the teams entered there (U9/2011 and U12/2008). The other top Bethesda teams did not play ASIST last year.

Cmon. There is nothing wrong with rivalry and competition. They are publicizing wins to recruit talent. It’s not lying or exaggerating or talking about results from years ago or brands or lineage. Everybody knows the best way to keep an opponent quiet - beating them. So do that instead of telling them not to enjoy this improvement in fortunes.

Too bad so many of their teams had their asses handed to them.
