This I think people complain to HR when others wear scents! I don’t wear any but a dab of oil on your wrist or just a nice smelling shampoo that gives a trace is nice.
People might complain to HR, but the workplace is only 8 hours a day for most people. It’s not going to stop people from wearing scents elsewhere and the perfume industry boomed during the pandemic.

I loved Moods by Krizia, and Ralph Lauren’s Safari.
One serious high school boyfriend wore Drakkar Noir; a fling wore Cool Water. Both still smell like sex to me.

Speaking of commercials--they don't have them for cheap perfume/cologne anymore--even at Christmas! I remember the Stetson "easy for you" commercials being kind of a staple of the holiday season.

I don't think they make it anymore, but in the late nineties/early 2000s Gap had a fragrance series. They were cheaper than regular perfumes, came in large unadorned bottles and had one-word names. I had one called Grass and I freaking LOVED it. It smelled just like freshly-cut grass, which we can all agree is a very pleasant smell. No hint of sweetness. Just green fresh grass. I would buy like gallons of it if they still made it. I think the other one was called Dirt and I never had a chance to try it.
Oh god, they were both so great!
