Who hurt you so?
You do realize there are multiple posters commenting on very different stuff? Why do you feel so butthurt when we voice our opinions on U of C?

(And honestly, Notre Dame would also be Stanford and Harvard-tier were it not in dumpy Indiana.)
Durham is a craphole too but at least it's warm and on the East Coast.
Lol. Notre Dame is nowhere near the tier of these schools.
And woah there, don't believe everything Fox Channel spoon-feeds you. I agree that UChicago is overrated, but Chicago is a fantastic city, and objectively beautiful. You forget that it's the third largest city in America.
Duke doesn't even merit a mention in this conversation. Pass.
It takes literally an hour to get to the beautiful downtown Chicago parts you think of when you think "Chicago" via public transportation. Chicago is the capital of the Midwest, so obviously the Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Iowa kids find it impressive — but to Seattle, LA, SF, NYC, DC and Boston kids, it's just another city. And it feels provincial and so far away from other major cities. And the weather is brutal and depressing.
For the record I'm not a UChicago alum or booster, but LOL at anyone from DC, Boston, SF, or SEATTLE of all places to look down their nose on Chicago. Chicago is bigger and more interesting than all of those cities. You East Coasters really are sheltered lot, aren't you? Chicago's a world-class city. And the weather is no more brutal and depressing than Boston.
Whatever. Look at the graduation surveys of top colleges. City of Chicago draws Midwest kids - while Ivy, Duke, Stanford kids go to the coasts; in other words, Chicago is not high on their list. Even the top Northwestern, UChicago and UMich kids don't end up in Chicago. Chicago is certainly as good as it gets in the Midwest but it's just not that special to coastal kids.

He doesn’t understand the office politics at all which is key in my office to getting your projects approved and getting ahead. I try to help him out but others think he is weird because he mostly keeps to himself. He referred to UChicago as the type of place where students debate Plato in their free time.
I would say 1/3 of the kids at UChicago are like this
Very scientific. Thanks.
Well, I went to UChicago so blame the school if you are not impressed by my quantitative skills. I stand by my previous statement though.

Have you (or your kids) never looked at college confidential when doing school research?
You sound just like every pretentious UChicago grad I know. I guess a "life of the mind" experience doesn't entail manners.
Sure did. But don’t keep links handy to schools we didn’t like. Because that’s extremely weird. And nope, no connection to U Chicago. No wonder you hate it. You decide people you don’t like went there, even when they didn’t.
How is this "handy"? Those are literally the top posts in the College Confidential subforum for UChicago and the level of self-trumpeting and boosterism is off the charts in just about every post in that subforum. You don't need to do any special research to get to those links. You just click and read the comments and oh boy that made my holiday.
