Yeah, you seem stubbornly fixated on sleep training when there are so many potentially better options. The snoo is great and babies just take a certain amount of time to care for no matter what.

A snow doesn't work for every baby. Most older babies that are difficult don't like it. OP will then have to transition him out of it the next couple of months and sleep train. I don't see a point in getting one.

Agreed. I think some people just have unrealistic expectations of their children and are selfish people. They shouldn’t be parents but, at this point, enough people have made it clear exactly how and why sleep training an infant is bad and OP has repeatedly said she does not care because she has better things to do than care for her baby. Sleep training can be effective when done correctly, but this ain’t it. She should be ashamed.

Meanwhile, my friends kids were lousy sleepers who needed hours of rocking to get to bed each night.

I am sure your kids will be in therapy later. FWIW I rocked and nursed my kids to sleep for 6-12 months depending on the kid. I also maintained consistent routines--adhered to nap/ bed schedules and kept the environment sleep friendly. Guess what! They are all great sleepers. Who knew that a gentle and kind method of sleep training could work.

Not everyone wants to be tied to a chair rocking and nursing a child for 6-12 months. They are old enough to self-soothe at that point. That usually leads to kids being spoiled. There is nothing wrong with sleep training. You probably were as a baby.

OP I think people are attacking you because of the age of your baby, your pediatrician recommended against it and your child seems to be exhibiting developmentally appropriate behavior for an infant (they all love to be held). My middle was an absolute mess for naps until 6 months but a generally good night sleeper. I just tried to remain consistent with paying attention to sleep windows and everything fell into place eventually. There is a reason your pediatrician recommended against sleep training at 8 weeks and I urge you to discuss it further before proceeding. He or she might have some gentler strategies (Ferber is not recommended at 8 weeks so definitely don’t do that). Clearly you haven’t explored all options since your baby has only been alive for 8 weeks. Your child can’t self sooth at this point so you need to fill that function until they learn ways to do this. It is such a short amount of time and you don’t want to make your child suffer. If your baby was 4 months no one would bat an eye because that is an appropriate age to sleep train.

OP here. I’m helping my child by getting quality sleep. Everyday for every nap he fights his sleep. It takes up to an hour to get him down, and even then he will wake up multiple times, even while being held, and then cry because he’s still tired. He is usually in a fitful sleep when being held. He isn’t getting enough sleep. I’m doing what’s best for him and me. It’s what’s best for our family.
