No idea. I am sure that MLS Next teams drew in new players for SYC and will continue to do so for both clubs. I know this was the first weekend of play for Alexandria, and both Alexandria and Bethesda were among the last clubs to begin full contact practicing (I think Alexandria started about four to eight weeks later than Fairfax). I know a few top Bethesda teams also had a few surprising results given their late start. All of that began to straighten out as the season went on. I am sure the clubs will scrimmage when the weather improves and people will beat their chest over what happens.
You struggle to believe? That must be hard for you. I'm sorry it's hard for you.
You are responding to the wrong person. I don't struggle to believe that in the first game in nearly a year, one group of 12 year olds may move to another. I also don't struggle to believe what I have seen, which is that the biggest coaching innovation that SYC seems to teach its players is that an individual player can do kick and run all by himself. It's pure genius, along with display of math involving more than single digits in tallying the wins and losses in the earlier post. Clown.
I'm not previous poster but they also played about a month ago as well and SYC 08 also beat Alexandria. On that same evening Alexandria 07 beat SYC. Not sure what the result was during the first weekend. I think the 08 game was more of an even game than the 07.
Correct, they played twice this fall season already. The syc 2008 boys won 2-0 the first time and 3-0 the second time. Alexandria beat syc 07s 3-1

Nobody needs to make excuses for a result in a game involving tweens. This is absurd. I will tell you the same thing when your boys take an a$$-pounding at the end of the year from smarter kids who know how to play, just as in years past. And I am sure you will put your boys in six or seven tournaments in your never ending search for a trophies and gotsoccer points. And Arlington will still beat you anyway. So stew on that.
I saw neither game, but have read enough on this forum to get that most posters who scream about kick and run are really just poor observers of the game and don't like a direct style of play out of the counterattack, lumping it all together as "kick and run", lamenting kids who can run all day long are just faster and hope that they'll come back to masses in their future fitness. Fast, direct play is certainly style, not just in soccer, but many other sports including basketball. Go check out VCU basketball and their Havoc press defense if you want to see a simple application, or 40 minutes of Hell from Arkansas defense. But since this is a soccer forum, I'll leave you this recent link to read about Liverpool directly from themselves. Any analysis that starts and ends with "they were faster and just kicked the ball past us" and doesn't consider if that was just direct is missing out. Go watch a few of these games and watch how quickly the balls gets played through to space by the backs straight up top with a clean ball and proper pace and direction. That's skill matched with athleticism and fitness. Silly Americans dads.

And this is why soccer in the U.S. and even this area is a joke.
What professionals do you see using kick and run as a strategy? LMAO ugh. And before you talk about this being U12 vs MLS... when do you think real professionals learn to play?
Anonymous wrote:Maybe watch them play before spouting off. Kick and run is absolutely SYC's MO. I watched an entire game and did not see a single coordinated attack. Not a single one. It was literally boom ball to a fast forward that waited for it. On both goals they scored.

DS is an 08 at neighboring club and we attended all both ASA/SYC MLS games and plan to try out next spring for both sides. Alexandria 08 boys controlled both games and clearly are better coached and have higher soccer IQs. They had methodical build up and created many chances though not able to convert. SYC played very direct kick and run to a very skilled 9 who scored or assisted nearly all of the 5 goals across both matches. Alexandria 08 backs lack speed, and as a whole Alexandria 08 is extremely susceptible to the counter and have suspect finishing.
Soooo... play to your strengths and the opponent’s weaknesses?
