Basset: overweight, busy, three kids and work full time jobs. Somehow were told these were low energy couch potato dogs who required little commitment. Struggling with PTSD.

Beagle: first time dog owners who went to the Humane Society and fell in love with the cute dog. Had no idea they could never let this dog off its leash. Perpetually wander the neighborhood calling the dog's name and posting on the list serve asking if anyone has seen Elvis.

Same stereotype for Rottweilers, but truth is both breeds are great family dogs.

I no longer live on the east coast, & the most visible Newfie people in my coastal Oregon town are the Happy Hiking Hippie couple.

Now that their dog is older, they're the Happy Biking Hippies & they pull her behind their bicycles in a trailer.

Please, someone do Shiba Inus, Norwegian elkhounds, & similar hard-headed northern spitz-types, and the wonderful, hard-headed Great Pyrenees Mountain Dog!
