As a kid I loved Isabella and Victoria.
When I was pregnant I love love love loved Nora. I was positive that was my DDs name. I changed my mind during labor. I still love Nora but my DD is definitely a Vivienne!

Too bad - I still like it a lot. If my first didn’t already have an H name, I would have named my second Heather. In a weird twist, the name we went with is actually related to Heather - found that out after the fact.

I also like Holly.

Our runner up name for our first daughter was Evie (eh-vee) I loved it so much at the time, but we opted for the other name as we thought it was a more widely known name.

Fast forward to daughter #2 and it wasn’t even reconsidered. Too many little girls nicknamed Evie running around.

Another name was Rachael and Marie and Ariel (yes, after the mermaid).

Nothing wrong with any of those names (well Ariel is lame), but I am glad I didn't saddle my child w/ those names.

Hate to break it to you but you might have bad taste?
Abigail (that’s how you spell it, btw) and Rachel are classic biblical names...

It was the Irish girl name in the late 70s/early 80s. There were more Shannons where I grew up than Stephanies, Amys and Jennifers. I was one of them, and vowed to find names nowhere near the top of popularity lists for my kids.

My teen had a friend named Shannon in her MS classes. She thought that was cool.

I appreciate what my parents were trying to do, and it has a great meaning. But it does seem a bit out of sync in this generation

I totally should have named one of my children Ramona. Seriously.

In high school, I had a first and middle name picked out for my future son. As life would have it, my Dh’s first and middle names are the exact same names, just reversed. We have all girls so I wouldn’t have gotten to use those names anyway.

Ramona Quimby, Age 8

Not this poster, but I couldn’t remember which book, so thank you. Man, I love Ramona - I want to start reading them to my 5 year old, but I can’t get her interested yet. My older daughter (the teen) loved them when we read them together.

I loved the name Theresa/Teresa growing up. Now it seems like a perfectly good name, but that's it.

I gave my kid a classic, well-known, historically significant (but not commonly used) name with a LOT of potential nicknames. Everyone can spell it, and he can have a long formal name, a cute kid nickname, and several other options of he chooses later on down the road.

Will you share the name? I am stumped for DD3. I basically want all those things and don’t have a clue what to name her.

Nope.

But a few of his nicknames are on this list, along with his middle name, which also met my criteria. A lot of the girl names here also met our criteria: Josephine, Matilda, Gertrude...

Really liked Cassandra / Cassie as a kid, like some others here. When pregnant I fell in love with Estelle, but H talked me out of it and I’m glad!
