The houses are overpriced. It was actually ranked #3 in the nation for overpriced houses.
The roads are horrible ... 4 people have died walking in that area in The past 4 months.
The people are snobby. Little to no green m space. Congested streets even on the weekends.
I live there and I love it! The neighborhood off Cheshire Drive? I have not heard of any pedestrian deaths in my neighborhood- link? No one is snobby at all that I know. Are you sure you are thinking of the right neighborhood?

My personal opinion take it for what it's worth. Richard Montgomery Cluster (make sure to check out elementary school ratings, I like Richie Park or College Gardens), Wootton cluster, can have high pressure parents ,but you do you.
Stay away from Crown Farm planned development. Pulte homes there are poorly constructed, and schools not great. There was a shooting their this past week and no one seems to know where the bullets came from?
Clarksburg, Urbana, Frederick all too far and have their own issues.
Poolesville, not a fan, even with the magnet program at the high school. Too many Trump fans for me. Too insular. Yes, I said that. And it's a rough commute to parts of Gaithersburg.

People have a chip on their shoulder about The Crown because people are paying $1M+ for homes and people love it. Bethesda people get all bent out of shape if you have $1M + to spend and choose gaithersburg over Bethesda.
Yep. And the Kentlands schools are great. Potomac and Bethesda people think they’re not because they have 20% FARMS, which impacts the overall test scores.

Every community in this area is planned -- even in the District. Petworth, for example, is a subdivision. That's why all the houses look the same there.
Some Kentlands houses DO have yards. It just depends on how much money OP can spend, as the houses are expensive.

We moved to Lakelands and are happy with the neighborhood and schools. Same schools as Kentlands, plus downtown Kentlands is walkable for us. We have a decent sized lot overlooking a lake. We have a less formidable HOA and don’t have the same requirements that natural building materials must be used (we don’t have to have a shake-style roof). The elementary school, while overcrowded, has a gifted program in house for its own students - which only 3 or 4 other schools in MCPS have. The middle school is in Lakelands. Our neighbors are wonderful.
