My two close friends are GYNs and both said that coronavirus should not be a reason to delay TTC.

I’m 37 and just had a frozen transfer last week, hopefully closing the chapter on a 4-year ordeal for #1 (including an emotionally wrenching TFMR). If I’ve learned anything in this process, it’s that there are no “right” answers in family planning. Everyone has to sift through their own situations, values, and risks.

I’m 42 and contemplating whether to go forward with a frozen embryo transfer. Does anyone have information about how the local OBs are managing risks for patients who come in for prenatal appointments? I’m too old to wait. So for me it’s a question of how best to mitigate the risks.

Zika didn't eventually infect millions of americans and kill hundreds of thousands like this will.
I would wait.

Ok crazypants. I already have a child, which factors into my risk tolerance for *dying of COVID*.

I went in for an IUI last week. Everyone wearing masks. Less or same level of risk as going to the grocery store. No one can know what the risk will be in 9 Months if my IUI worked and I give birth then... but willing to take the chance.

I’m almost 38, and had a miscarriage in January. I want to start trying again. I’m scared but feel that the risk of Ttc outweighs the risk of continuing to wait/deciding not to have a 2nd. My DS is nearly 5.

LOL what?

I saw the articles talking about the effects on fertility, too. If you can afford it, go for it. If we were working or even shopping outside our homes then we would consider it, too.

NP. I’m 36 with embryos frozen. One kid who is 18 months. How long should I wait until doing an FET for #2? If I wait 2 years until there’s a vaccine then I’ll be 38 with a 3.5 year old. I don’t see how to get through pregnancy - or at least the first 6-7 months with strict isolation right now or at any point in the near future. I really don’t want to get COVID while pregnant. Scary.

I'm going to wait some. I'm 38, and TTC #2. I had a bunch of complications with the first pregnancy and multiple hospital appointments per week the last trimester, so the odds are that I have a good chance of needing to access the healthcare system more than most the second time around. That said, I want to balance this with not waiting too long. I may wait until the end of summer or fall at the latest hopefully. It is pretty scary. I was scared enough about getting pregnant a second time given my first experience before the pandemic. I'm wishing you all healthy pregnancies and healthy babies!

You’ve made your point PP. Plenty of stories of people other than pregnant women dealing with the effects of COVID too. It doesn’t change the fact that by and large this pregnant women aren’t particularly affected populations. Age, obesity, asthma and other issues are the main complicating factors.
