You know what, this is very perceptive and quite possible! I have seen parents who triangulate with their children and spouse, so it could be that kind of issue.

She appeared to even vacation with a family of an older son. She had all 6 at the house on the day Ric died. He seems like a nasty and bitter man. He said in interviews that he regretted not reconciling with Orr before his death then pulls this with the 2 sons from his first marriage. I suspect he was a narcissist and that this pattern of estrangement had happened elsewhere in his family tree.

Ocasek and Orr did reconcile before Orr's death.

I think it was very compassionate of her not to call ems right away....she was making sure all the children were there to have a peaceful goodbye on their own terms. Once ems is called, the paparazzi and TMZ slime balls are all over that and there is no privacy. She did the right thing. Not shady.

I just read about Dennis Hopper’s wife’s lawsuit. Interesting that the share of the estate that was awarded to her reduced her daughter’s share versus it coming off the top and then the children receiving the % he allocated.

That situation was a little different because the estranged wife was trying to get what she was entitled to under their prenuptial agreement (and her stepdaughter was fighting it). It seems Paulina should get some of their estate either from the pending divorce or from his will. She should not be shut out entirely because he happened to die before they completed divorce proceedings.

What does the pre-nup have to do with Dennis’ ex-wife’s share only reducing her daughter’s share? The amount owed to her should have been a debt to be paid by the estate. The remaining estate would be split based on his will. It’s odd that the ex-wife’s share was taken from one of the children’s share and not the entire estate.

Seems to me she was only afforded a share based on having a blood relation to the ex-husband. Therefore if she wanted an additional part of the estate in contradiction to what the pre-nuptial agreement stated then it had to come from her daughter's portion who was 7 at the time. It could not be taken from the children of the 4 previous marriages and I think that's fair.

Each ex or separated wife gets a 'percentage' of the estate. If they want 80% of their portioned percentage to go to themselves and only 20% to their children, then that's their problem.

Ahhh ok. I thought PP was saying she was enforcing what was in the pre-nup. That’s why it didn’t make sense that onky her daughter was impacted. If she was asking for more than what was in the pre-nup then yes, agree it should come from her child.

Something like this would make sense (would explain why he had to have the surgery, why she moved home, why she didn't mention the specific surgery -- people are weird about penis-adjacent things), but I haven't seen it mentioned nor could I find a single hit on google suggesting that it was the case. (Another PP says he had a cancer diagnosis, can't find anything to support that either.) Rod Stewart has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. Orr died from pancreatic cancer. Nothing on Ocasek that I can find.

Maybe? It's also possible that the surgery was very minor, he was recovering well all by himself and that Paulina is overstating her role a bit.

It bothers me that she found him dead in the morning but that no one called (911? The medical examiner?) about his death until that afternoon. She says that she needed time with her sons to grieve. But it just struck me as odd.

I read that she had all 6 of the sons come to the house. Not just her 2.

They were getting a divorce so what did she expect? I'm sure HER side of the story is very sympathetic but he's dead so we won't hear his but the will is a pretty good clue.
