So there is the crux of the disagreement. Some parents consider that language abusive and others consider it rude, but not abusive, and indicative of something the kid may experience out in the real world. Should coaches use that language? No. Is it abusive? That’s a matter of opinion and parents are free to make their choice about staying or leaving.
Correct. And for those of us who have chosen to leave and not subject our kids to that type of an environment over something as trivial as soccer, there are apparently people who rather say "you were cut" or "denied an offer" instead of recognizing a choice has been made. But hey, if that's what they need to say to justify why they stay, have at it.
I don't assume everyone else was cut or not offered. There's a right fit for every child, plenty of places to choose from around here. But, the thought that FCV parents sit by and allow their kids to be abused all in the name of some wins and scholarships is just not accurate. That talk should stop. No parent in their right mind at any club is going to tolerate that.
Then perhaps FCV parents should lay off the attacks of other clubs then if they can't take any criticism themselves.
uhmmmm okay. I'm not whoever those parents are, so I don't criticize anyone for their club choice. Wouldn't waste my time attacking anyone for that. Just trying to shed dispell this myth that FCV parents only care about winning and are somehow sacrificing their children's well-being for it. It's just not the case.
You must be new here then.
Naw, just clearing up this crazy notion. I'm sure you'll find a lunatic or two at every club, but most soccer parents are similar in that they choose the best environment for their player and spend no time bashing other parents for their own choice.
Well, we feel so sorry for you. Bless your heart.
Huh? What the heck is that? Why do you feel sorry for me? What's with all that snark? I haven't been snarky at all. Why can't it just be a normal conversation without all that? Nevermind, my fault for trying to be reasonable on this board.

We have different definitions of crying. Lol. This was all about parents allowing kids to be abused. I’m just saying that’s not how it is but I guess you’d rather fight and not make sense so I’ll leave you to it.
You are too dumb to realize that just because you (one parent) says something it must be true for the whole club. Idiot.
So, you really think an entire club of parents are sitting around while their kids are abused and doing nothing about it? Okay. Also, you won’t get a rise out of me with the ‘dumb’ and ‘idiot’ stuff. I’ll let you throw around the insults all you want. You sound so angry about a club that means nothing to you.
A group of parents were able to get a coaching change BECAUSE of the coaching behavior.
It doesn't sound like your kid is on a DA team.
two teams to be exact. Bobby is banned from 2 teams. He only has the older kids because they are trapped - either seniors or right in the middle of recruiting conversation juniors. Everyone knows this. Why do you think so many seniors are leaving early and NOT going to showcases/nationals??
Which two teams is he banned from?

Think just the 05s, but I thought that decision was more about their performance with him as their coach than his behavior.
Don't they go kinda hand in hand?
Usually. Nice PR sound bite though.

This is absolutely not true. He is the main coach for both the 07s and 06s.
Amazing what kind of lies and rumors are started on here.

FCV parent crying because folks criticize the club. Go read some tweets to feel better.
Didn’t someone post that Bobby isn’t allowed to coach the youngest age group anymore??
Obviously not you, but it seems like SOMEONE is clued in.
No group of parents would be sitting around watching their kids be abused for wins.
Considering you're not allowed near the practice field you wouldn't know it unless your kids were constantly complaining. The problem is, these coaches hold tremendous power over ambitious kids and parents. If a kid has ambitions of playing in college they, as well as the parents have been convinced that FCV is the only pathway. The coaches hold the cards. The coaches make the NTC recommendations to US Soccer, the coaches can choose to work on behalf of a player with a college coach or not. The coach can determine WHEN a player plays in a showcase. If you are in the dog house you might get magically pulled as the college coach just arrived to watch. The coaches decide who they'll talk up or not.
In short, there is a lot control by the coaches and kids and parents live in a state of anxiety over roster spots, playing time etc.
So I'll bite on this one. While parents can be around the outside of the field I can hear unless they play on the far side. But communication with your child is key as the choice where to play should be the child's choice, not the parents. The communication should be open with the child.
The second part of the statement is true. The coaches do hold enormous power over the playing time, college recruiting, etc. Playing time first: It is earned, not given. I'll leave it at that.
Recruiting: I don't believe the FCV coaches, particularly Bobby since this is his role, choose not to work with particular school.
But the previous 2 facts are true at ANY club in the DMV or across the nation. The coaches hold all the power when it comes to playing time, working with colleges, etc. If a parent/player feels they are not getting the playing time, attention, whatever they want, they can choose to go to another club.
I believe the FCV coaches work for ever single player. I think they do work harder for their stars as makes the club reputation better to have national team players and players committing to top level D1's.
I get it that many on here think Bobby is mean or abusive or whatever. I just have not seen that and see continuous improvement from every player and team.
