All it means is that they love their trendy little things. They'll set out their accessories and take pics and put them on VSCO. Or they'll do mirror selfies in their baggy T-shirts, with their scrunchies on their wrists and post them to VSCO. Of all the teen and preteen trends I've seen, this is totally harmless. My son picks on my daughter about being a VSCO girl, and she just shrugs it off … it's just the "look" right now.

So glad my daughter missed the super low-rise jeans trend paired with crop tops from about ten years ago. I’ll take this “trend” any day.

Genius. I've been looking for Halloween costume ideas. I love Halloween costumes that I just wore yesterday... I mean, I mean, that I could possibly cobble together out of my closest.

Last year my teen reported that a group of mean girls at her school were dressing as “ basic” girls for Halloween. I wonder what sort of parents those girls had. Now I know.

They aren't making fun of them. They are mom's dressing as a trendy teen group for Halloween. It's silly and harmless. It's like dressing as a valley girl or whatever for prior generations.

My girls don’t do the Nike shorts except for the one that plays sports and only when she is going to an actual practice. But everything else, I had no idea it was a named uniform and somehow different from when everyone wanted the same jeans and shoes when I was in Jr. High back in the 80s.

Re the water bottle, I personally find that overpaying for a water bottle they really want is the best way to make sure they do not lose it and I spend less in the long run.

My DD wears Nike shorts, tshirts, carries a hydro, and wears birks. It’s all about comfort for her since school requires a uniform and she doesn’t spend money on clothes. I don’t know anything about that talking thing though.

And I can count on one hand how many teen girls DON’T have long hair!

Ha! I'm making fun of them by wearing the clothes that I actually wore to the store yesterday. The cycle of trends are fun. What is old is new again. People dress like the 50s or the 70s, or, even forbid, in flannel. What not dress like "right now?"
