It's more similar to Joni Ernst's affair. You may not be familiar with that, because the right wing outrage machine isn't raising a ruckus over it.
I don't see the similarity. But it's true that both women have denied the allegations of an affair.

Rep. Ilhan Omar violated campaign finance law by using campaign funds to pursue an affair with married Democratic consultant Tim Mynett, according to a complaint filed with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) Wednesday.
Omar’s campaign has disbursed $223,000 to Tim Mynett’s company, E. Street Group, LLC, from August 2018 through June 2019, mostly for fundraising consulting, FEC records show. But on April 1, her campaign began making payments to E. Street Group for “travel expenses.”
Less than a week later, on April 7, Tim Mynett confessed to his wife that he was “romantically involved with and in love with” Omar, according to a divorce filing Tuesday by Dr. Beth Jordan Mynett.
Beth Mynett said in her filing that her husband’s “more recent travel and long work hour snow appear to be more related to his affair with Rep. Omar than with his actual work commitments.”
Omar’s campaign disbursed $21,547 to cover travel expenses for E. Street Group across eight payments from April through June, FEC records show. Tim Mynett, 38, is a partner with the company, according to his LinkedIn profile and is one of the company’s governors, according to business filings submitted D.C. Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs.
The timing of the Omar campaign’s travel reimbursements to E. Street Group coinciding with the start of Omar’s alleged affair with Tim Mynett is suspect, according to an FEC complaint filed Wednesday by the conservative National Legal and Policy Center (NLPC).

Isn't this essentially what Nashville's mayor resigned for? I think she was also charged with something. Using campaign or tax dollars to fund her affair with a cop.
The issue seems to be whether the travel was part of his job or was purely romantic. It actually seems like harassment to me, since there's no real reason to think that he was paid for work properly until April but then improperly after that.
But if it turns out that he no longer was doing any work but was merely traveling romantically with her, then that's a problem. Only an ethical one, since we've apparently dismantled the FEC.

The purpose of wearing the hijab is the same purpose behind religious Jewish women covering their hair (after they are married): One's hair is thought to be alluring to men, and a wife does not want to attract sexual interest from other men. So Omar wears the hijab as a symbol of this - and then commits adultery.
And please, for you leftists out there, stop racing to her defense simply because she is a Muslim. She's a hypocrite (among other things).
Not a leftist, but you're wrong here. The hijab is more of a cultural symbol than a religious one; it's actually meant to mimic the Virgin Mary (yes- yes. Look it up.) But you're also wrong because Muslim women aren't worse than anyone else when they are adulterers.
Omar's love pentagram would be as distasteful if she were a white woman from Connecticut as it is right now. And that she can get away with no answering legitimate questions about immigration fraud and campaign finance violations is much more concerning to me than how awful of a wife she appears to be.
I agree that her (potential) fraud invoking immigration reform and finance violations is more concerning,, but you are wrong about the meaning behind the hijab - and why her wearing of it shows her hypocrisy. The very word means "barrier," and it is associated with modesty (just like Orthodox Jewish women cover their hair).
She makes Muslim women look bad by wearing a symbol of modesty - and then opening her legs for one man while married to another.

Look, I lived in a Muslim country for years and I am confident I know the history of the hijab. And that women wear it regardless of their "standing" in the faith. You're wrong to make this about her being Muslim. She doesn't make other Muslim women look bad because this has nothing to do with her being Muslim. Just like white male senators who sleep around don't make all white men look bad. This is about Ilhan Omar. Not her religion. Full stop.
Exactly. I am a Dem who dislikes her and the drama she and "the Squad" are injecting at a time when we need sober adults to right the ship of state. But I object wholeheartedly to bringing her religion, gender, or race into this to imply anything about others who are female, black, or Muslim.

It's about Omar NOT respecting her religion.
She used her religion for political gain and now she SHOULD BE eating crow.
But something tells me she'll just keep on keeping on.

I don't care about Ilhan's activities of any kind, but I did notice that she often does not wear a hijab but usually a headscarf or a head covering that does not cover the neck as the hijab does. I will also note that a colleague at an international organization who is a Somali lesbian wears a headscarf at work but not outside of work. The type of head covering and when to wear it may be situational.
I think I read that Omar has said that she started wearing it after 9/11. In her case, perhaps it is a political stand.
And, to first PP, many [upperclass wealthy urban] women in Iran never wore a hijab prior to the fall of the Shah. All must wear it now whether they wish to do so or not.

I'll be supporting another candidate next time. There are plenty of amazing women we could elevate who don't create so much distraction and drama. Honestly though, the Democratic base around here only love her more as these scandals break. They don't care about her role in said scandal. It's like defending her is an opportunity to prove their own progressive bonafides. It's a tiring dynamic.
On both sides.

No, the married woman whose husband left her for Omar is filing for divorce and it’s pretty gross.
It was also gross when Trump left his wives for other women. At least Page Six had to dig up a court file instead of fielding calls from Omar about it.
The grossest thing of all is the usual hypocrisy we're seeing from Trump supporters.
"Adultery for me, but not for thee!" - every Trump supporter
Trump has not had any affairs while in government office.
