Fast forward to Junior year, turns out that a couple are gay and the rest are just heteronormative, cis kids. So a little caution, a little therapy are most certainly in order. I think it is hard for kids when they feel like they have to "choose" what they are.
That's because it's not a choice. You are what you are.
I cannot believe so many of you are saying that you would go along with this. I have a just-turned-12 YO boy and there is no way I would support this. Be a parent, OP. You're not there to validate every whim or feeling.
So what you’re saying is that there’s only male and female, being transgender isn’t real, and it shouldn’t be allowed. Got it.
That pretty much sums it up, yes. Especially in kids this age.

I grew up in Bowie, Frederick and Salisbury and went to
schools all over Maryland during the late 1960s and 1970s.
I can honestly say in my school experience in Bowie at age
10-11 girls were girls and boys were boys. All the way
through middle school and high school I think we had 1 gay
male post high school in our graduating class of 300 from
the eastern shore.
The 70's were not that long ago. What has changed that
we have boys wanting to be girls at age 10 and girls
wanting to be boys such that there parents are dragging
them around to medical appointments.
I guess I'm confused.
I think there are a number of things going n now. The high suicide rate is, in lacks good data, driving the pediatric community to day treat with hormone blockers. However, there is not a randomized control trial to say this decreases suicide rates, as this study would not be done. There is an argument that this will result in fewer suicides. Unfortunately this has become so politicized that when a study trying to look at rapid o set gender dysphasia was published due to every increasing rates of this being seen in population, especially girls to boys, there was an outcry in the trans community to take the study down. This was done and layer republished, but much damage was done. I wonder if the increase is relayed to the availability of YouTube and the increase in people talking to kids who are the highest users of this to put their message out - that were seen by young kids who identified with message - I am uncomfortable in my body, Ireject the issues that come with being a girl - social pressures for alpha girls - grass is greener as a boy. When, previously pediatricians would say what is u derlying this, they now say- get your child on hormone blockers stat and then go to a gender specialist. While it should be the doctor saying, do no harm. They are now saying, well maybe we are okay with over calling this as it may save lives. The data I have seen is going to convert to boys is 100% if kids go on blockers, but only 60-90% if they do not. That says something to me as a parent of a tween who is going through lots of changes in both body and brain development at this age. If I say not so sure your choice of ice cream is best for you today, why wouldn't a parent AND. a treating physician have at least the same skepticism with regard to starting medications with changing genders. Why wouldn't they want to consider underlying issues for the gender dysphoria and investigate with therapy first, prior to medicating kids with the 100% likelihood of moving forward. A number of de-tranistioners are now posting on YouTube as well and they report lots of negative responses from the trans community as they report their experiences.
