Second this, but they are not for first time dog owners. We are on our third and they are stubborn, highly intelligent, and massive shedders. They need tons of training, exercise, and attention. They were bred to be with their humans 24/7 and that is how all three of ours have been. They are wonderful with kids and other animals and love to cuddle, but absolutely hate being apart from their people.

"Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever. Like a smaller version of a golden retriever, but smarter and a better running partner."

We are looking for one! Any suggestions? Most breeders are not reponding.

I’m in love with the breed. Would you mind sharing the breeders info?

Full-size or mini?

Both. But mine is a standard. 15 pounds.

Anyone have a catahoula? Thinking about adopting one.

Yes, they are beautiful dogs. I also like that they grow to a decent size and bark not yap.

Adding a vote for the standard poodle. Mine is so affectionate and tuned in to everyone in the family. She is high energy, but she smells like a flower and I love having her in my bed.

Mini golden doodle for me. I had cocker spaniels before and they were all high strung and lots of maintenance. My mini s so laid back and an instant stress reliever.

Shelties, collies--my family trained dogs for agility and herding contests.

Anonymous wrote:I currently have a poodle. I have loved both my standard and now my miniature poodle there is a cost involved with grooming. But my dog is extremely loyal and loving. In addition I never fear that he will hurt anybody. Outside of poodles, just a plain old mutt. I’ve always had mutts until I married a man allergic to dogs. My last dog prior to poodles was a German shepherd mix. She was smart as a whip.

I'm surprised you're the only poodle vote here so far! They are hypoallergenic, non-sheddding, super intelligent, and friendly. Of course, there is the grooming, but they are a good option for someone with dog allergies.
