We're all riveted by the whole dog people saga but there's nothing else to know now, so everyone starts sniping at one another to fill the void. Wow, OP, I can't believe your family. One unreasonable person wouldn't surprise me but so many of them?! FTR as others have said my dog is part of my family but I would never bring her uninvited to someone's house and ESPECIALLY if another guest has a bad allergy to dogs.
