Right now, OP fears her marriage and family life getting trampled by a force which her husband cannot manage. They will likely get things smoothed into a workable mode over time, but she has justification to feel significantly impacted, and yet disregarded.
Just because you can’t relate to her situation doesn’t mean you should insult her.
I agree.
I was getting a very smothering, ideological feeling as she was describing them.

Hi! Just wanted to saying thank you for sharing this. I’m going through this exact scenario right now. Totally Blindsided and my in-laws now live within walking distance, less than half a mile from us. I’m sorry so many people were not supportive of your situation because I feel exactly like you did. How did you end up handling the situation. Has everything turned out ok? So far I have very firm boundaries set.

DHs parents followed their kids to this area and now only one kid remains and they are basically alone. They have very little involvement with us by their choice.
My mom followed me to the area and I had to tell her not to live closer than an hour. She is the type to want to go to all the games, etc. I had to tell her we are not at the game to socialize with her and to basically not talk to my kid while she is there to play. She is also hurt with we don't see her enough, but its too much for me. I've honestly thought about moving out of the area to avoid having to see her so much. She visits my brother a few times a year for a week or two which seems better to me.
