I demanded to start doing my laundry when I started noticing certain "intimate" stains in my panties. I felt it would be a violation of my privacy to have my mom wash them, so I did it. I'm surprised more boys aren't doubly aware of this.

Why are people acting as though laundry is an incredibly difficult skill that teens can’t quickly master?

The latest detergents are very fabric friendly. Some even are designed to allow you to wash mixed loads without hurting whites or colors. The machines are smart, too.

I learned as a middle schooler on old machines in an inner city laundromat with generic powder and bleach. It took a bit of attention due to the temperature adjustments, but was never something you needed to be an adult to do.

My parents made me do my own laundry when I turned 16 (I had a stay at home mom). My daughter started doing her own laundry at 11 years old - My wife and I both work, and she does travel sports.

I showed my kids how to do laundry when they started high school, and they were in charge of doing their own from that point forward. They all thought it was no big deal. One (my tidy kid) did a good job of folding his clean clothes and putting them away and the others pretty much grabbed stuff out of their clean laundry basket to wear; however they chose to do it was fine with me.

It’s not rocket science. We use Tide Pods and dryer balls.

Sure if all you do is ride pods and let it roll.

I suspect your not that good at laundry too.

yup, that's what my 14 year old does. usually on the bed, then on the floor for a week. but it's his room/his clothes. i'm not getting involved.
