And soon it will be true of south Arlington as well.
What has changed in south Arlington?

Hmm.

Of the top 10, 8 are in FCPS, 0 are in APS.
But I'm sure APS will do better once the schools are more overcrowded.

Just unbelievable. Cringe inducing beyond human comprehension.
Wait, what? Where?
From this? Help me out. What's the offensive phrase? https://www.apsva.us/post/arlington-school-board-chair-statement-on-superintendent-transition/
Someone must have told him. He changed it. It use to say “with all deliberate speed.”

I have the same question about whether to stay in Arlington, But frankly I don't see many better options at the public level nearby. I value our quality of life (less traffic, shorter commute, most things nearby, close to DC, more time spent with family, walkable communities) too much to move to MoCo on FFX. We can't afford private, so we are just going to have to stick it out. There are some positives about APS even now, but yes, the situation is getting beyond worrisome.
Falls Church City or Vienna. Arlington is a slow motion train wreck.
Yeah, but NA is fine too. What are FCC and Vienna if not NA without SA? The real problem is that NA insists on imposing their moral vision on SA instead of letting it become like NA.
They are nice communities that have much better schools than NA, and have their own identities. You make it sound like they are NA wannabes, which they are not.
Of course they are. They’re small, expensive, cloistered communities. You have to have a lot of coin to buy a house in those places so of course the test scores and other metrics of “quality” which correlate to family income are off the charts. Even NA is diverse by comparison.
Nope. North Arlington is not diverse, and North Arlington north of Lee Highway (the Yorktown HS areas) is the whitest, least diverse part of NoVa.
APS has some highly ranked elementary schools. The middle schools don't shine as brightly, and the performance really falls off at the high school level. It's been that way for years, and certainly did not improve under Murphy.
BS. Yorktown, Madison, and George Mason are all about 65% white (Madison 66%). YT has 15% Hispanic (highest of the 3), and fewer Asian by about 3%.
So racial demographics are pretty identical.
Economically, Madison has 10% FARMS, Yorktown 13%, George Mason doesn’t report (or has 0% — anyone know the real deal)?
So no NA is not the whitest enclave.
Is there a reason you’re not including Washington-lee hs? Which is arlingtons largest and in NA? On NORTH Stafford street? It’s 30 percent FRL and 45 percent nonhispanic white.
Oh i was just showing that even at the ‘whitest’ NA high school, it is less white than FCC and Vienna high schools. Once you consider WL, it’s clear NA is diverse. Though definitely more so below Lee Hwy.
Some parts of NA are among the least diverse places in the country.
Exactly what data are you using to make this claim? There are many, many parts of the country that are 100% white.
In a county that prides itself on diversity, affordable housing and all around liberalism, it’s just morally wrong for there to be rich white enclaves.
The word you're looking for is hypocritical.

Please describe what that would entail and how it differs from current practice.
You mean the current practice of half our schools with almost no ELL students and the half with almost entire schools of ELL? That practice?
I live in SA. What do you propose?
Immersion in south Arlington. All across south Arlington. Shutting down Randolph, Carlin Springs, and Barcroft as neighborhood schools. Make them choice and try to entice middle class families to buy in.
Wouldn’t it be simpler for you to just move?
