Love all the suggestions (esp. the Bread song!), and here are some of mine to add:

So Quiet - Nik Kershaw
Snowbound - Genesis
Ripples - Genesis
Space Oddity - David Bowie
She’s Leaving Home - Beatles
Suite Madame Blue - Styx
Man in the Wilderness - Styx
Wild West Hero - ELO

OP here. I am so sorry to hear about your dad. I hope these songs can give you some comfort and peaceful thoughts.
((hugs go out to you, wherever you are ))

Pearl Jam - Black

Sunny Day Real Estate - In Circles, and pretty much every other song of theirs

Thursday - Understanding in a Car Crash (Full Collapse really holds up - their other albums not so much IMO)

I am feeling a connection to all posters on this thread; everyone is sharing a piece of their heart, giving something that is important and meaningful to them. We can all share and identify through music ~
Thank you and hugs

Anonymous wrote:Maybe not your genre, but I can think of a couple of favorites:

Keane ‘somewhere only we know’: “if you have a minute why don’t we go Talk about it somewhere only we know.” Its the way he sings it.

And Radiohead ‘high and dry’: the entire song is so gloriously emotional. Even the guitar cries and whines a little bit

Always fleetwood mac’s ‘Landslide’

Always.

A girl sang this at our high school graduation and there was not one dry eye. So beautiful.

What does it say about me that I love be almost every one of these songs? And the singers who died too young like Harry Chapin and Dan Fogelburg, make them only more poignant.
