Pretty much this. If you are quiet then I assume the worst.

I'd like to know how many Rs have this sticker on their bumper.

I wonder how many Ds believe in "coexisting" with Rs in the sense of "Ds mind their own business and leave Rs alone". On the face of it, none of them do.

Lots of Dems leave Rs alone and mind their own business. Maybe some Trumsters should mind their own business when people speak Spanish in public.

Too many of these stories lately.

In any case, I seriously doubt any Rs have this sticker on their bumper.

Not true at all.

I considered McCain until he picked Palin.

I considered Romney (since he’s reallly a D).

Every D has some fairy tale about how they seriously considered voting for a Republican, but then - sadly! - there was some issue where he fell short, and they had to vote D.

Just admit you are a Democrat and always vote Democrat, don't bother pretending you are "independent" and could go either way.

I might have not wanted Bush, Jr. or McCain to win, but I certainly didn't hate them. I respected McCain. He was a hero and did a lot of good things.

Yeah I totally remember all the "respect" and lack of hate that the Dems showed Dubya and McCain from 2000 to 2008.

Yeah, so you say. But I've never known an actual liberal friend who does that. They simply cannot resist the opportunity to lecture, nag, and hector you, and to try to make you justify and defend the policies of Reagan / Poppy Bush / Dubya Bush / Trump (which is, by the way, not my job). Liberals are mentally incapable of leaving people alone. Which is why it's going to come to blows eventually.

I completely agree. Ds mostly are on a mission. Rs are happy to leave it alone. If only Ds spent as much time learning about issues as they did talking about them....

Many Rs did not vote for Trump, or did, but hate or are embarrassed by him -- just didn't want a D and hoped for not the worst. None of them are hiding or or afraid to talk about it, particularly with those of us who can distinguish between an R and MAGA. They do avoid the angry folks who can't forgive any Rs who allowed MAGA to happen.

I don't know any R friends or relatives who are MAGA and support the harmful or bizarre behaviors of the current POTUS, except for one who lives in Florida and one who lives in the Rust Belt, and both have always been the type to feel angry about people not like themselves.

Except Trump is,.nominally, the Republivan president. I would never admit to being Republican in the DC area. Dont you remember the vitriol directed to Bush? Democrats thought and said he was the devil . Romney seemed like the most likely bridge builder ever, and they made him out to be a woman hating 1 percenter **, despite his positive governing record in MA. In this area, yes Trump ups the ante, but it's never been safe, open dialogue as a Republican or conservative.

From the D point of view:
1. Unacceptable, incompetent, evil extremist = the current Republican officeholder or candidate
2. Saintly, moderate, reasonable, statesmanlike = Republican after he retires or gracefully concedes defeat in the election

It's always fun to watch #1 turn into #2 -- e.g., McCain, Romney, and even Dubya Bush

ok, now I know this has to be a troll. How can a woman who cried when Trump was elected be happy with maga paraphernalia in the house?

Most women love manly men, not men who are ahole jerks who support an ahole jerk. Those two are not synonymous.
maybe she’s more tolerant than you are?

or maybe you're a troll, or maybe you're an angry uneducated white male, or maybe pigs fly?

My husband is manly but secure enough to support a woman for president, unlike some other men...

I wish Republicans could have their own planet. We'll take care of the environment our way, they can take care of theirs in their way, and we'll see who wins. After all, they like free market competition, right?

What would immediately happen: Ds invade the R planet to put a stop to the outrages against "fairness" and "equality" and "diversity".

I voted for Trump and my spouse for Clinton. My husbands biggest concern was Russia. We haven't even discussed the Mueller report because I can tell he feels a bit snookered. He disliked Hillary too but thought Trump might be corrupt on another level. Now he seems to realize that he got had. He didn't think it was possible that the entire Russia collusion thing would completely fall apart. I never believed it because to me it simply didn't make sense that Trump would ruin is entire career to run for president and get in bed with Russia. It he didn't. But my husband will never like Trump. But he also knows Hillary is a dirtball.
