"Indiscretion" by Charles Dubow is up there. Many other sadder ones already listed here, but "Indiscretion" will effing stay with you.

Also - She's Come Undone by Wally Lamb.


I left "She's Come Undone" in a hotel room in Dallas it was SO bad--I couldn't finish it. So depressing. Just bad book.

I didnt like it either. I read it after reading one of her other books, the girl you left behind, which I loved.

Omg I’m pretty sure I was on a plane when I read this too! Also The Red Tent and The Book Thief. Why do I always finish sad books in public places.

Came here to post this one. I think one problem is that its been spoiled for so many people, it loses some of the impact.
And if you don't know what I'm talking about, go read this book RIGHT NOW (and don't tell anyone you're doing it until you're done.)
