And where or where in the world is this utopia of middle class and poor kids playing together, everywhich race speaking English and learning or playing XYZ sport in the playground, parents all having fun together at the PTA social?
It was around in the 1950s in the multicultural playgrounds of many U.S. cities. Every kid from every which country or class would go play baseball at the playground- every day, for hours, boys and girls!! It’s like they wanted to do the same stuff, “American” stuff.

Really no one gives a F about your heritage, you’re not that special. If you’re nice to people you’ll make friends and build a life. If you walk around with a chip on your shoulder and your “I’m so much more culturally better than you” then no one will like you and it won’t be because of your skin. It’ll simply be because you’re an insufferable a-hole.
Jeez! Why the anger? I bet you call people who disagree with you snowflakes.

I am of a different race and background than everyone around me. I’ve never felt out of place in DC, but do here. Everyone is extremely wealthy or at least pretending to me. The majority of the moms stay at home and socialize via their kids. I’m still working and traveling back and forth to DC, socializing with SAHMs women is difficult. Just ranting I guess. I took the day off to attend a school function and literally 9 out of the 10 moms here has a Moncler jacket and Louis Vuitton Bag. There isn’t even any fashion diversity!

But like apparently there are large swaths of the country with no black people! I had no idea. Insane. Happy I moved back and prefer the problems here over problems elsewhere.

We’ve been here 3 years and have genuinely tried making friends. We have made some friends but they are not very deep or meaningful relationships just people we like well enough to hang out with occasionally so we have some type of social life. It seems like almost everyone who lives here grew up here or nearby and has family and old friends here so we have always felt like outsiders. We can’t wait to leave.
