Well, the same could be said for those (of any age) who choose to make number-two while standing. People have a lot of "judgments" about that, when, in fact, it is none of their businesses.

to be certain, they will be tormented. They will be tormented if they wear women's clothing also. And how do you propose changing those other kids? Hers sons are the ones who are going to want to conform once they see how easy and efficient it is to use a urinal and not have to go into a stall and pull their pants down. It's just too bad they have to learn it on their own while unlearning their bad parenting. Yes, teaching a boy he should sit to pee is bad parenting.

Any man who can't stand in front of a toilet bowl and pee into it without pissing on the seat really does need to sit. And any man who shakes it after is just an AH plane and simple. But I stand behind what I said about teaching your young sons to pee sitting down. Once they get to school, while the other boys are all using a urinal with no issues, these special kids will have to go in the stall which in most cases is going to be too nasty to sit. I hope they never go for a hike in the woods (althout something tells me that seems unlikely) with other boys who have no trouble peeing on a tree when they have to go while your child... Sits?

Standing to make #2 takes some getting used to, but once you do, there's no going back! Happy New Year!

I don't know, but I used to live in Germany, and this was a HUGE issue there. It actually went to courts of law as landlords tried to prevent men from standing to pee, because splatter ruined the floors. It was also a really big deal to some people I knew who had signs in their home bathrooms stating that all guests must sit to pee.

What? My DH sits down to pee 95% of the time, and I love him for it. We have NEVER had pee on the seat or toilet bowl issues.

Who says men have to stand? Just because they can doesn't mean they have to.

Sometimes, I get tempted to discount the idea that our culture is infected with "toxic masculinity," but then I see a thread like this. There's this completely arbitrary notion that "real men" stand up to pee. Whether someone does or not doesn't affect anyone else's life. Sometimes, there are decent reasons for sitting (e.g. tired, don't want to make a mess, don't want to turn on the lights, etc.) And yet, we have more than a few people who have strong opinions that men should always stand.

My husband does it so that he doesn't get pee on the seat at home. So what.

New poster. I'm not understanding a lot of what I'm reading in this thread.

- Why would people really care about this? I pee standing up 90% of the time, but sit down 10%. There are various reasons for it, including how tired I am, whether I have morning wood, etc.

- I don't know why people keep saying various Europeans pee sitting down. I grew up in Europe (lived there for multiple decades, in 6 different countries), and this was never the case. Every german men's room has urinals, and the guys use them just like Americans.
